A Deal Made in Blood - Aberrant
General Summary
A new advertisement is posted to the door of the Death Dells Tavern.
"New blood slushy flavor! Ever look at your hand while drunk and think that you have 6 fingers? Now it's possible with our aberrant Blood Slushies! Come on down and see what it's like to be double jointed or to see the world through bug eyes. The effects will wear off with the buzz!" (Some slushies may bring increased spell effects as well. Right of Trade, Magic, Personhood, and Property purchases required)
Gwen Alchyron, a newcomer to the plane of Pandora decided to try the adventuring lifestyle. Eager for coin and a thrill, he saw a board post that required meeting in The Sovereignty and decided to send out a call for adventure. Taking up that call were none other than Vareth and Wyrn who were also relatively new to the plane.
The three were so new in fact, that when they enterered The Border of The Sovereignty, none of them had purchased any of the rights that were required for traveling, personhood, or anything else! After waiting in line for a while and trying to find different ways to get out of purchasing their rights which sounded heinous to the group, they all managed to make their way to the Death Dells Tavern through some means or another. Some purchased the bare minimum while Gwen was actually able to sneak through without paying. After making their way to the tavern, the group was able to get to know each other and order some food. Not sure what to do, Gwen Alchyron with a stroke of wisdom ran out to the job board and ripped off the job posting bringing it to the waiter. After showing it to one of the staff members, it wasn't long until a human looking gentlemen came out from a side room and grabbed a rather expensive looking glass of wine showing a tattoo of a broken obsidian dagger on his wrist. Looking to the party's table, he promptly exited back into the side room.
Curious of the job and who this person was, the party quickly followed the man into the room who introduced himself as Mr. Commonwealth. After introductions, he requested that the party go out in search of a boggard who he had heard about in the Forgotten Forest who seemed to have interesting blood. The party was given the option to bring him in dead or alive and were given several vials for his blood. In exchange, Mr. Commonwealth would be willing to pay for their rights while in The Sovereignty. With their promise of a reward and their orders, the group bedded for the night at the Death Dells.
The next morning, the party left bright and early towards the Forgotten Forest to the east. After a day's travel, they spent the night at the edge of the plains and the swampy forest. The next day they began their travels fresh and ready for whatever awaited them. After several hours of travel, the party came to a section of road that was a partially underwater. Wanting to be cautious and searching for any signs of their boggard quarry, the group moved forward. Gwen Alchyron noticed the first sign of danger as a large toad like monster jumped out of the water and rushed him. He was able to dodge but unable to hurt the creature as his horse was untrained in war. Vareth was the first to draw blood using his skills of climbing to get an advantage in a tree. The sluurk however quickly entangled him with a sticky tar like substance from his back. Wyrn tried using his bow but wasn't of much use until he dropped his weapon and embraced the full force of his dragon roots clawing and biting at the monster. Finally bruised and battered, the party felled the monster.
The next day, the party continued traveling. Vareth and Gwen Alchyron were able to sustain them all through foraging for different berries and small game in the swamps of the forest. After some travel, Vareth noticed something peculiar next to a stream; a lone bucket. Trying to be abundantly cautious, Gwen Alchyron cast a spell and noticed that it was filled with freshly caught fish and that there were specks of blood around it. Fearing an ambush the party moved forward eventually hearing the sound of creatures eating something behind a large tree and another similar sound of something whimpering. After a little more investigation, the party discovered that it was a group of goblins eating the corpse of a halfing. Battle ensued and the group was very quickly able to cut down the goblins save one who was afraid and didn't want to eat humanoids. After talking to him for a little while and ensuring they wouldn't hurt him, the party adopted their little goblin friend.
Continuing on, the party finally came upon their prey, the boggard sorcerer. Gwen Alchyron tried to use bluff and diplomacy to convince him to come in peacefully but the boggard was too wise and saw past the lies. A terrible fight ensued with the boggard knocking Gwen Alchyron and Wyrn unconscious and coming close to overtaking Vareth. When the quest stood upon the edge of a knife, Vareth was able to rally and use his longbow to deal the knockout blow to the boggard. After taking some time to recover, the group headed back to the Death Dells Tavern and collected their reward from bringing the boggard in alive.
