The Highfather

Yigdros, The Highfather master of death and fate and life, the scale that keeps the balance. Yigdros stands as the god of death. His gaze marks the start and end of a mortal life. He is the judgment on your life that decides whether or not you enter the cycle for rebirth. He governs the cycle of life and death and is often prayed to during birth and at a funeral for protection. At funerals he is prayed to so as to protect the deceased from the curse of undeath, watching over the natural transition between life and death in order to make sure the transition is uncorrupted and remains in balance.

The Highfather returned with his followers to the world of Pan-tyrel after the rise of Dolorel and the fall of Terran Sah-lie. There Yigdros saw the newly born primeval incarnation of death and saw a chaotic danger and cast him from this world chained and locked away in a plane of darkness planting anchors all across the world.

Appearance

All current depictions of the Highfather have him wearing a white emotionless mask wearing a hood and a set of nobleman's clothes like a suit or tailcoat.

Commandments of the Highfather

  • Death is a part of the natural cycle and is the natural end of life. There is no pity for those who have fallen.
  • The cycle is sacred and those that seek to disrupt the cycle should be met with justice and punishment.
  • Undeath is an atrocity and those that seek to pervert the transition of the soul unto the afterlife must be brought down.

Holy Orders

Recently Yigdros disbanded the Circle of Ash which was the silent crypt keeper of the world, they sought to destroy those that pervert the cycle and uphold the balance between life and death, they were led by Ash Keeper Groves. They were always clad in dark robes or clothes but the order always hid their faces behind a white featureless mask and a black hood.

After the disbanding of the previous holy order due to the failure to stop a possession of Ash keeper groves, yigdros declared The First Reaping and transformed those that were apart of the Circle of Ash into the first Reapers, a new type of angel that helps him in his divine duty of ferrying the dead to the afterlife.

Holy Days

The Highfather’s holy day is known as “the unchained night” and is celebrated on the thirteenth day of the tenth month celebrating the day the Highfather cast away Qor'innis, the unending Hunger. This day is often used as a day to celebrate the lives of the dead and used to pay respect to those that had once walked among us.
