Orobas

A devil from the hells, taking the appearance of a anthropomorphic horse. An Orobas is a mid-tier devil who forms networks of lesser devils and demons to obtain information throughout the Hells. They sell this information they gather to the highest bidder, often for more power, influence, or souls.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Orobas Devils take the appearance of a humanoid with a horse-like head and cloven hooves. They are often quite muscular and well toned, with powerful digitigrade legs and sharp claws upon their hands.

Growth Rate & Stages

Similar to all devils, Orobas begin as a lower class devil, and rise to power depending on the specific method they are granted power. Evolving to an Orobas is especially rare, as it requires one to forge their forge and amass power in The Hells without trickery or deceit. When they obtain enough power, their bodies begin to change over the course of hundreds of years into the form of an Orobas.   In many cultures, a horse represents contradicting forces. A naturally evil devil dealing in honest truths without deceit opposes the very being of a devil, creating this unique devil subspecies. It grants them powers no other devil has access to, such as healing magics and elemental favor, and causes them to constantly adapt to oppose the environments they find themselves in.

Ecology and Habitats

Orobas are able to easily adapt to any climent they are exposed to, often adopting characteristics of their most common environment. Those that stay in extreme heat for long periods of time tend to be able to control fire, cold environments lead to ice powers, and tropical climates, oddly enough, lead to them developing Lightning powers.

Behaviour

Contrary to most devils, Orobas tends to act much more truthfully, acting with an honorable integrity rather than selfish desire. Towards mortals, Their devilish horse appearance contradicts what comes off as a well mannered individual. This is because Orobas very rarely lie or tell half truths to mortals, reserving that right for the fellow devils and demons they often butt heads with.   Despite seeming well meaning, Orobas devils are almost self centered, though they obtain what they desire without deception and trickery. Instead, they at first try to deal honestly, offering deals which in their eyes would benefit both sides equally. If an agreement cannot be reached, the Orobas often then resort to violence, sending minions to get what they want.   Orobas Devils are some of the few kinds of devils who would choose to go out of their way to render assistance, even should it not benefit them directly. Orobas devils value the alliances it is able to forge, be it another devil or with mortals, seeing that connection as a possible asset for future endeavors. They also do not tend to put those they see as allies in danger, even if they are lesser minions.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Similar to most devils, Orobos are capable of seeing in the dark without any issues, though they are uniquely able to see in color rather than black and white. Similarly, they are also given the gift of truesight, allowing them to see thru illusions and invisible threats.

Civilization and Culture

Common Taboos

While Orobas Devils can still tell lies and act with dishonesty, those that do so for too long may transform into another form more fitting of their actions and personality. In doing so, they will not be considered an Orobas anymore.

History

Orobas devils across the multiverse are widely considered the most honest of devils. Records in many cultures document how Orobas Devils have dealt with mortals for the better good, often to further their own goals, but not at the expense of those they helped. They are known to show up at ideal situations, and are noted for the effects they have on events across history.

Common Myths and Legends

In some cultures, a horse represents contradicting forces. Good and evil opposing each other equally. It is believed that Orobas Devils take the shape of a horse because of the dual nature of them, devilish creatures who do not seek to deceive, acting with honesty in a plane of evil.
Upholder of the Laws
It is often said that Orobas Devils are the only beings in the hells that most other devils trust without concern. Due to this, legends say that a hidden Arch Devil takes the form of an Orobas, and acts on as the of the law that all devils must follow. It is said that it is this Arch Devil that claims the being of devils who fails to fulfill the contracts they write.
Dealers in Promotions
To many mortals, it does not make sense to them why any devil would grant another devil greater power or promotions. As such, it's often believed that Orobas Devils are meant to keep track of individual devils accomplishments and loyalty, instructing higher standing devils when to promote them for fear of failing their obligations.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Unlike other devils, Orobas are extremely loyal to their allies, rarely turning on those who have pledged themselves to it. This is reflected in the company they tend to keep around, with them being other devils who show senses of honor or loyalty. They tend to keep company with imps and spined devils over other devils due to them being reliant on higher rank devils, but likewise such devils being in the ranks of an Orobas reliably knows and understands there is genuine possibility of promotions. This produces a mutual respect between the two ranks.   While mortals are wary of dealing with devils in general, those who are knowledgeable of Orobas Devils tend to welcome their presences. Orobas Devils tend to treat mortals with respect, keeping to their honorable nature.
