Oni
Former Nature Spirits turned hostile through destructive forces to their homes. Often mistaken for fiends, the first Oni were created after cataclysmic disasters due to the callousness of others. Many remain quite dangerous, though some have made attempts to return to their former positions.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Oni are often characterize to be similar to one of three creatures: ogres, trolls or orc, sharing many characteristics of the three races.
While each individual Oni have their own distinguishing features, they are typically muscular humanoid creatures with sharp features, 10-14 feet tall with brightly colored skinned depending on the type of spirit they were in the past.
With that said, Oni tends to come in many shapes and sizes due to their ability to shapeshift. Although Oni have their true forms as described above, many Oni have changed their forms to better suit their personalities. As such, some Oni may have animal shaped heads, Stinger tails or other practical functional body features.
Natural Magics
Along with their natural brutish strength, all Oni have the capability to change their forms, shifting to other humanoid shapes in an instant. Often they are not too imaginative with the forms they assume, choosing to take shapes close to that of their own, but on occasions they use this assumption to their advantage, taking would be targets by surprise. Oni also tend to possess powerful relation to lightning, being able to summon it in combat to fry their foes. It’s believed this control of lightning is a direct result of the destruction of the wards the first Oni had, transfering over to the Spirit turn Oni. Finally, Oni also often have a small semblance of their former capabilities, being able to control the weather or nature of the region they claim as their own. Able to summon rains, storms and fog in most situations. There has been notable exceptions though, where some Oni choose their environment to be sunny or tropical.Behaviour
While exceptions exist, Oni are typically hostile individuals, claiming a particular geological feature for themselves, such as an island, or a mountain. Stronger Oni tend to form gangs of lesser Oni in these territories, acting as dangerous bandits and highwaymen.
In combat they are extremely savage, openly impaling their foes upon their weapons, gnashing at them with their sharp fangs, and rendering them apart with their claws. They do not hold back in combat, reveling in their full strength for even the weakest of foes.
They are known to be extremely selfish, only acting in their own interest. They hoard wealth and adorn themselves in the plunder they obtain. Even civilized Oni tend to share this trait with their more aggressive counterparts.
