Civilization and Culture
History
Goliaths emerged in the aftermath of the Fall of the Titans and the subsequent punishment of giantkind. As giants were scattered and reborn in various forms, Goliaths arose as those who adapted to the harsh environments of high mountains and rugged peaks.
Unlike their giant ancestors who once ruled vast territories, Goliaths found purpose in the challenge of survival in the most inhospitable regions of Nórëlondë. Their bodies grew lean and strong, typically standing between 7 to 8 feet tall, retaining the impressive physique of their giant forebears but in a more compact form.
Goliath society developed around the principles of fair competition, communal support, and reverence for natural forces. They saw the unforgiving mountain environments as a test from Aedar, a chance to prove their worth and atone for their ancestors' hubris.
Over generations, Goliaths honed their strength and endurance, developing a culture that prizes physical prowess and the ability to contribute to the tribe. They retained some of the innate magic of giants, often manifesting as control over stone or resistance to extreme temperatures.
Goliath tribes typically remain isolated in their mountain homes, but some individuals venture into the lowlands, driven by wanderlust or the desire to test themselves against new challenges. These travelers often become renowned warriors, guides, or champions in other societies.
