History
The Goblinoids trace their origins to the later stages of divine creation, when Grummsh, the one-eyed god of destruction, was brought into being along with the realm of Acheron. In those tumultuous times, as the world was still taking shape, Grummsh sought to create a people in his own image - fierce, resilient, and unyielding.
From the blood and fury of Grummsh came the first goblinoids, embodiments of their creator's strength and rage. As these primal beings spread across the newly formed lands, they diversified, giving rise to the various sub-species.
In the early days, Goblinoids were driven by primal urges to conquer and destroy. They ranged across the lands, clashing with other races. This period, known as the Age of Savagery ( Lú Ugarth ), saw the Goblinoids feared as monsters and raiders by all other peoples.
A defining moment in Goblinoid history came when Corellon Larethian, the elven god, put out Grummsh's eye as a revenge for deeds Goblinoids did to his children. This act instilled a deep-seated hatred for elves in Goblinoid cultures, leading to an eternal conflict between the two peoples.
As ages passed, a schism began to form within Goblinoid society. Some groups, particularly among the Hobgoblins and certain Orc tribes, began to develop more complex social structures and technologies. This period, known as the Great Divergence ( Gwannad Beleg ), saw the first steps of Goblinoids towards civilization.
In time, some Goblinoid groups established their own nations. Hobgoblin legions became known for their military prowess, while Orc shamans developed complex spiritual traditions. Goblins, with their adaptability, found niches in various societies, both Goblinoid and otherwise.
As Goblinoids began to interact more with other races, some individuals and groups integrated into diverse societies. However, the mark of their origins remained, both in their appearance and in the prejudices of others. Many Goblinoids found themselves caught between two worlds - their ancestral heritage and the new civilizations they sought to join.
