Aelen Carn

Blood and Marsh

The Aelen Carn is a secretive and reclusive society that resides in the marshy highlands of the island Cetlin Minor, Cetlincaen. They are known for their practices of blood magic, which involves the spilling of blood - either their own or others - to increase their power and cast spells.   The Aelen Carn are a brutal subsection of the Goliath population of Cetlincaen, but not much is known about them. They live a cloistered life, away from the rest of society, to better focus on their mysterious arcane practices. They have a strict hierarchy, with the most powerful members at the top and the least powerful at the bottom. Those who wish to learn their ways must undergo a series of rigorous physical challenges– even by Goliath Standards.   The society is shrouded in mystery and often viewed with fear and suspicion by the rest of the people in Cetlincaen. However, those who have had dealings with the Aelen Carn know that they can be powerful allies, but also dangerous enemies.   The use of blood magic is considered taboo by most of the population of Paeforia, and the Aelen Carn Bloodhunters are often seen as outcasts and shunned by society. Despite this, they continue to practice their craft, using their spells for both personal gain and to protect their society from those who would do them harm.   The Aelen Carn are feared for their power and their willingness to use it, but also respected for their mastery of blood magic. The full extent of this dark magic is not truly known yet, as the upper echelon of the Aelen Carn Bloodhunters fiercely guard their knowledge. Nevertheless, it is clear that the Aelen Carn are a force to be reckoned with and should not be underestimated.

Tuathal Bloodeater

Highest of her order, Tuathal Bloodeater is the foremost agent of the Aelen Carn. This high priestess of blood magic presides over the society, and gives the final say on any who wish to enter. Few have actually laid eyes on the extremely reclusive zealot.   Tuathal, and by extension all other Bloodhunters of the Aelen Carn, views the rights of blood magic to be a religious form of magic, said to have been derived from an ancient goddess from the Age Before. It was Tuathal, in 1503, who "rediscovered" the practices of this deity. Known only as "Lady Masque", it is through her, Tuathal says, all blood magic flows.
