Lady Masque

Architect of Blood Magic

A relic of the past; a deity nearly forgotten, Lady Masque was once a prominent god amongst those who lived under the dark rule of the Lich King, Chryonis. After his downfall by the hand of Evar Sinterek, founder of the Kingdom of Sinterlünd, the Age Before progressed into the Modern Age, and much of Lady Masque's congregation fell to the wayside as time marched on.   Current knowledge of Her powers and allegiances is not well-known, but her connection to Hemomancy is undeniable– although the little we do know originates from a single source, Tuathal Bloodeater of the Aelen Carn. It is said a shrine to Lady Masque somewhere in Cetlincaen was rediscovered by Tuathal sometime in the 16th century, and from that the order of Aelen Carn was created. According to Tuathal, it is through Lady Masque and her great powers that all blood magic flows– it is by Her will that one may learn the darkly arcane practice of Hemomancy. Now often viewed as a superstitious figure (as She is steeped in mystery and tied to the ever-controversial practice of blood magic), it is not often you'll hear her name from ordinary folk, but if you do it is often tied to foreboding auguries of one's future.

Symbology & Other Names

From what is known about Aelen Carn and their practices regarding Lady Masque, the symbols of her worship include a black rose and thorns, a skull with ivy vines extending from its orifices, and an image of a shrike.   Lady Masque, both in and out of Aelen Carn, is sometimes referred to as the 'Dark Lady', 'Queen of Blood', or the 'Blood Mistress'.
