Imperial Guard

Possibly the most well known military organization in the whole empire. The Imperial Guard works primarily as the emperor’s personal military unit, but are also employed as bodyguards by nobles as well. Imperial Guardsmen are also known for serving as a de-facto law-enforcement group in Old Rindenheim, and serving in the battlefield if need be. Imperial Guardsmen are notable for their mastery of combat-related skills, and of possessing powerful Rinden-powers, making their presence a game-changer in battle.
Imperial Guardsmen are primarily high- to medium ranking military officers with a notable history in the armed forces. Other requirements for an aspiring Guardsman, are rank 2 Rinden-powers (Abilities that can be effectively used in combat). While historically one would have to be born into nobility, but a more modern practice is to give the new recruits the title of knight after joining. The title is also given to the knight's immediate family as well. This has led to the unfortunate practice of families trying to get their sons to get into the Guard in the hopes of them becoming nobles in the process, even though the title is purely ceremonial in nature. 
The Imperial Guard has a rocky relationship with its sibling-organization, the Black Division. The two have been holding a feud ever since the formation of the Division, mostly over ideologies and terms of conduct.

Limitless funding. Usually, end up using melee weapons such as polearms and swords. Carrying of firearms recently made mandatory.

History

The Imperial Guard was formed right before the War of Retribution. Originally a small group of knights who swore their loyalty to the soon to be Emperor, Ansel Rinden, eventually grew to an elite paramilitary organization that has taken part in every Imperial conflict since.
