Solemika Seven
The Solemika Seven are a band that has gone from obscurity into moderate popularity almost overnight. Based in Solemika, in the country of Chemnos, they are a rather eccentric group.
Brought together by Glowrandel, the band was a simple attempt to win a battle of the bands competition local to Chemnos, but not the city of Solemika. The seven of them discovered that they liked performing together, and kept with it.
The Band
Dag Mention: 23 year old human male. Comes from a noble family, with an extensive background in ancient art history and a fluency in several so-called "languages of love". Prefers to talk his way through problems but can be all too gleeful in a fight. Slow to trust but intensely loyal when he does. Loves nature with a passion and has been known to tie himself to trees. Sings and talks almost constantly and one time had to be knocked unconscious to shut him up. Plays the oboe and the bassoon. He's the face of the band, and most people outside think of him as the leader. Mostly he's just the most outspoken of the lot and the the most overtly charming. Rather shallow. Alshia Mention: 24 year old human female. Dag's older sister. Has extensive knowledge of the cosmopolitan languages spoken around the world, and known for her ability to identify a painter based on the style of brush stroke. Loyal to her friends, but finds it difficult to trust even those close to her thanks to a rather chaotic childhood with her brother, and does not share her secrets. Would do anything to protect her house (and by extension her country) except give up music. Talks her way out of most fights, unless it's about art history in which case she is perfectly happy to start stabbing. Plays many kinds of flutes. Passionate about music and life and family. Is most likely to accidentally creep out a fan by being intense. Glowrandel: 34 year old elf man. Possibly on a mission for elfkind, as he is rather shifty and has a ring that he guards zealously, and will jump on any rumors regarding Dr Weevil and the rest of the Chemnos government. He would do anything to protect his bandmates. Takes a lot of risks, including sneaking into areas he shouldn't, but usually fails because he doesn't know how to shut up. Is not allowed to return to his homeland, and vague about the reason why. Plays a double bass or a guitar, depending on the song. The actual leader of the band, mostly by virtue of being the eldest and the best traveled. Traffne Snevus: 27 year old nevus woman. Has a background in veterinary medicine for tree creatures. Loves nature thanks to her upbringing among the elves. Optimistic and sees the best in everything. She owes everything to her elvish mentor (Glowrandel's mother) and would do anything for her, which included joining the Solemika Seven. Also finds it hard to be quiet, but is at least pleasant in how she sings. Plays something rather like the bagpipes. Also responsible for handling the bags and any percussion that might be necessary. The most popular member of the band among those who aren't elves. Bergamote: 23 year old elf man. Was a history major, with a specialty in legends and lore, until Glowrandel dared him to try writing poetry. Slow to trust, especially those not elves, but intensely loyal now that he knows his friends. Has a baby with a human woman who has sworn that the kid will never know he exists. Overestimates his intelligence regularly. Is the orator of the band, and writes most of their pieces. Most likely to get in trouble in the bedroom and from related incidents. Also most likely to be able to persuade his bandmates to help him get out of that trouble. Irebolg Frittencandle:28 year old gnome man. Embarrassment to his family for pursuing a scholarly study of archaeology instead of going into business. Would do anything to protect the friends who have supported him. Easily flattered, and his main aim in life is to ensure that his reputation with the band can spread far and wide and get all the way back to his parents. Thinks he's the most intelligent person in the band, and he's probably right, but has no common sense to go with his knowledge. The acrobat and visual artist to go along with Bergamote's narrations. The easiest to recognize when the band is traveling. And also Meylany Bellgar, a human woman of indeterminate age who plays all the instruments that need filling in thanks to her magical horn that can transform sound into just about anything the player wants.
