Ouroboros
Scripture says that at the dawn of time the world serpent Ouroboros flew through the sky and called all the world its home. Where it laid down to sleep, it would leave behind valleys and oceans. Where it shed its skin became the mountains and plateaus. From where its scales fell, jungles grew and rivers sprung. When Ouroboros saw what they had created, they were pleased and desired to share it. The World Serpent sought out some of the beasts that roamed through the jungle and swallowed them, where they were awakened and changed to resemble Ouroboros. When Ouroboros let them out, the creatures sang prayers of thanks, and the World Serpent was pleased. The World Serpent named its first worshipers the Yuan-Ti, and told them to seek out others bring to them justice and righteousness. One day, Ouroboros looked and saw that their children were flourishing, and knew them to be good. The World Serpent then looked beyond our world, to the endless dark void that surrounded Them. They knew of the dangers that lay in the darkness, and sought to protect us from them. So Ouroboros flew beyond our home, and wrapped themselves around us again and again, until there was no place for the void to seep through. And so Ouroboros remains our protector and savior, until the day where we shall become beings capable of joining the World Serpent in repelling the void.
