1st Battalion

Where these masked iron soldiers walk, the very air burns.

Decked head to toe in heavy iron armor, the sappers and engineers of the 1st battalion don't make for great conversation, primarily because their hearing is shot from blowing up enemy fortifications and letting their powerful elemental weapons do the talking. Called the Black Death by some, these soldiers carry a fearsome reputation for destruction and mercilessness.

Equipment

The 1st division specializes in heavy armor and explosives. If it's big, loud, and made of pig iron, it's probably from the 1st division.

Weaponry

The Black Boomers are called such for a reason, they specialize in all varieties of explosives. The average 1st division Dragoon carries a sling of at least a half dozen explosives. This usually includes basic hand bombs, a specialized explosive depending on the occasion, as well as at least one bundle of dynamite. The signature weapon of the battalion is the Hand Mortar, allowing grenadiers to deliver their ordinance from a farther distance. Other weapons include the recently introduced Boomshield, as well as Flamethrowers and Corroders.

Vehicles

The battalion commands 45 heavy mortars, 100 pack horses, 3 ironclads, 10 iron frigates, and 2 bombardment dirigibles.

Tactics

1st division squads usually work in conjunction with allied forces, acting as a strategic asset deployed for dealing with specific obstacles. They rely on their allies to provide them enough cover to get close enough to deal some serious damage with their heavy armor and explosives.

Training

Most members of the 1st battalion are chosen for their strength and sharpness, as well as their passion for blowing things up. Members of the battalion must be strong and sharp, as they will frequently have to handle volatile explosives in the midst of combat. Many officers are of dwarvish descent, using their knowledge of construction to accomplish just the opposite.
