The Runner And The Shadow
The runner carelessly meandered through the streets, enjoying her day off as she checked out the local stores. Her recent paydays had been good enough to be able to splurge a bit, so she felt like treating herself. With a faint smile on her face she looked at the sunglasses on the rotating rack. As she turned the rack to look at a few more, her smile almost disappeared yet she managed to restrain herself. She looked at a few more glasses, turning the rack once more to be certain.
Next she wandered over to a bookstore with a newspaper rack. Here too the rotating rack had a few small mirrors attached. The locals knew these were so the mob could make sure they weren't tailed before they entered their hideouts. She had never expected it to be convenient to her, but there they were, two men covertly following her. So much for a peaceful day off.
