Memory Palace Item in Out of the Shadows | World Anvil

Memory Palace

I still miss my wife every day. I try to be strong, and am making my way through it. But in an hour of weakness, when the longing becomes too much, I can use my memory palace to revisit her. So much love she poured into making it for me. I weep every time I see her there, but it heals my heart. Thank you for this amazing technology.

The Memory Palace is an item designed to house memories. This can take many forms, such as video, audio, 360-degrees pictures, sometimes even simrig recordings. By using one, someone can place themselves in the middle of an old memory, reminiscing of the past.   There are various ways to interact with a memory palace. The simplest way is in the shape of holograms, with a set of small projectors to be spread around the room. One can also opt for Augmented Reality usage instead.   There are more expensive models which allow for one to interact through Virtual Reality. However, such usage is limited to a maximum of two hours a day. This limitation is meant as legal and moral safeguard, to prevent grieving users from losing themselves in their memories.

A journalist has recently gone missing, most likely due to a scoop he was chasing. His boss found the guy's memory palace, which he would use to store info about his cases. Now she needs the runners to find out what happened, using the memory palace as a trail of breadcrumbs to follow.   The will of a billionaire notes that the keys to her inheritance are hidden in her luxurious mansion. She has provided all heirs with individual memory palaces, to help solve the puzzle. One of them has hired the runners to help. An added complication is that it seems multiple memory palaces are needed to figure things out, mandating either an alliance or foul play.
