Capital Cemetery

So far only one cemetery has been found in the Former Capital, though scholars suspect it may in fact be the only one. Filled with headstones and surrounded by ancient runes, the place is one of the few discovered clearings in the overgrown capital.
The cemetery is surrounded by metal fences and stone fenceposts, with many barred metal gates. Interesting enough the gates are barred from the outside, not from the inside, almost as if they were designed to keep the dead inside. Ancient runes can be found on every fencepost as well as on the outside and inside walls of each tomb.
Strangely enough, the nearby plantlife has not overgrown the fences. There are some places inside the cemetery where plants climbed freely onto tombs, but overall it is the only exception to the everspreading forest that has covered the entire capital.
Most headstones hold many names, suggesting that bodies were either buried on top of each other, removed, or cremated. Even tombs mostly hold urns with ashes, only a few contain stone coffins. In some cases, the urns have fallen out of their alcoves. A few of the tombs have partially collapsed. It appears that while the fence posts are still intact, the tombs were not always made of the same quality and have suffered the same fate as the rest of the capital.
