Pre-flight Liquification, Original Presentation

Referral for: Rosa Weshi To: The Apoluria Clinic From: Gaia Dominia   Presentation: Rosa Weshi is an adult female who was brought to our clinic on the 3/tenmonth by her parents.  She had reported general weakness and shortly after admission to our outpost she was unable to stand.    Upon examination we determined that Rosa was progressively losing bone strength.  In point of fact, her bones were softening to the point of extreme flexibility.  Bluntly: they were melting.    We immediately fashioned a prosthetic exoskleton and fit it to Rosa.  This had the desired effect of stabilizing her form.  However, her internal organs continued to degrade -- at least, this is our hypothesis, as we do not have a practitioner here who is capable of doing an internal scan.  This one reason we are sending Rosa to you.    It does seem clear that, as of this writing, Rosa has no functional bones remaining.  However, she continues to live and shows no sign of distress.  From this we deduce that not only the skeletal system but also the vascular, muscle, and nervous systems are undergoing a remarkable reorganization.    In an effort to find the cause of Rosa's disorder, I led a small team in retracing Rosa's activities over the few days before she fell ill.  As you know, her tribe hunts in the Highland Desert.  We learned that Rosa had been gathering boronaam (a local, mildly hallucinogenic herb) in the low rocky outcroppings at the edge of the Highlands proper.  We searched the region and came across a largish capsule or container of an unfamiliar (metal?) material.  Not wanting to share Rosa's fate, we avoided touching the object (which is large enough to hold 2-3 adults) and we carefully spervised its packing (by the use of a hastily-constructed block-and-tackle) into a triply-thick crate specially constructed for the purpose.  We are sending it to you, and I expect it to arrive just a few days after Rosa herself.    Rosa's appearance and the manner of her conveyance will be surprising, if not disturbing, to you.  Well, you know what apprentices are like ... I'm afraid that while I was away supervising the removal of the capsule, my assistant Johan foolishly opened Rosa's exoskeleton and she fell right out.   Unhurt, thank goodness!   However she is now more or less a puddle.  We've contained her in a comfortably lined and padded demi-barrel and, fortunately, she is somehow breathing and her facial features have a convenient tendency to migrate toward whichever part of her is uppermost.  She doesn't talk or seem interested in communicating though we think she understands us.    One last note: her preferred form of nourishment is hard alcohol; and if you give her this, she manages quite nicely and produces no other waste than occasional outgassings.  Quite tidy.    Please do let me know what conclusions you reach.
