Frostfire Salamander

The Frostfire Salamander is a rare and elusive creature, found only in the extreme environments surrounding Afltindr volcano on Eyreykr Island. These unique amphibians have adapted to the island's volatile climate, developing a remarkable ability to withstand both intense cold and heat. They are cautious and elusive, often hidden in the crevices of volcanic rocks or beneath icy patches.   Frostfire Salamanders are typically small, no larger than a human hand. Their bodies are sleek and streamlined, allowing them to navigate the treacherous terrain of their volcanic home. Their coloration is a striking contrast of deep blue and fiery red. They possess a thick, leathery skin that protects them from the harsh elements, and their feet are equipped with specialized pads that allow them to climb even the steepest cliffs.   These creatures are solitary and nocturnal, emerging from their burrows only at night to hunt for insects and other small invertebrates. They are highly territorial and will fiercely defend their territory from intruders. Despite their fearsome appearance, Frostfire Salamanders are relatively harmless to humans, unless provoked.   The rarity of the Frostfire Salamander makes it a prized possession among collectors and alchemists. Its unique physiology and magical properties make it a valuable ingredient in potions and spells. However, hunting these creatures is a dangerous and difficult task, as they are well-adapted to their environment and are skilled at avoiding capture and their habitat is unforgiving.

Amphibious. The Salamander can breathe air and water   Ice Walk. The Salamander can move across and climb icy surfaces without needing to make an ability check. Additionally, difficult terrain composed of ice or snow doesn’t cost any additional movement.

Each creature in that area must make a DC 11 Dexterity saving throw, taking 7 (2d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.   Frost Breath (Recharge 6). The Salamander exhales a 5-foot cone of cold air. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw, taking 5 (2d4) cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
