Lost Hope
The desolate taiga plains of Lost Hope island host the Forgotten Gaol, where the worst criminals of Ostellia are thrown after they make it clear they do not care to seek rehabilitation and reintegration.
Geography
An island far off the coast of Ostelliach and often forgotten (perhaps deliberately) by mainlanders that is known for, well, how empty it is. The land is mostly flat and scrubbed by cool, sharp winds much of the year, with only stubborn shrubs and some coniferous forests dotting a few sections to break up the monotony. There are some fences erected around the single port of the island, as well as around the Forgotten Gaol, but these are largely reminders of the futility of trying to leave rather than actual deterrents; the geography and remote location do most of the work.
Climate
Lost Hope is cold most of the year, with almost all of its scant precipitation falling as snow or perhaps dew during a terribly short summer. The temperatures remain below freezing the majority of the time, leading to only the most stubborn of plants or animals surviving there.
