Chained Forge
Halema'uma'u Crater, Kilauea Volcano (1887) by Jules Tavernier, public domain
Geography
The entire span of the island the volcano inhabits is largely free of plants and certainly of animals, frozen waves of long-cooled lava flows or shiny obsidian sheets with no purchase for roots or ponds. The southern portion of the island is particularly flattened by the whispered breaths of the nearby Dreadswirl, while the entrance to the Scorched Floes mine system is located, surprisingly, just north of the mountain itself.
Natural Resources
Volcanic rock is mined in the Scorched Floes mine system below the mountain's semi-dormant edge. There, obsidian, pumice, volcanic ash, and even metals like gold, zinc, and silver can be pulled from the sweating earth.
