Jaeger Ludwig
(a.k.a. Crimson Baron)
Jaeger Ludwig, also known as the Crimson Baron of Wellasturm. From the outside he is an extremely intelligent and savvy merchant with large build and surprising physical strength. He owns a very large manor located close to the keep near the central northern end of the city. He is said to be very connected to the nobility, politics, and inner workings of the city. He is very well liked by the people and is very outwardly generous giving large donations to the citizens and assisting the poor he comes across in the street.
But the truth is much darker. Jaeger is in reality an extremely feared crime syndicate and gang leader in Wellasturm the major port-city of Kystland. He is rumored to be a powerful Magi and have spies through out the entire city. Rumors say it's impossible to even enter the city without him becoming aware. His headquarters is located underground in the large sewer system of the surprisingly modern city.
Jaeger was born with a very rare form of Mystic Manus. His manus allows him to possess the mind and soul of any living creature he physically touches. An expert user of this Manus can completely obliterate the mind of whatever creature they attempt to possess, effectively leaving nothing more than an empty husk of body for the user to possess at will. Jaeger heard of a legend of one with this manus ability once possessing a Devourer. Since a devourer absorbs and assimilates the physical body and biomass of the creature it attacks. Their "bodies" are touching and it allows an opportunity for the Magi, if possessing a strong enough will and skill in their manus, to completely destroy the mind of the demon and permanently take control of its body as if it were their own.
Jaeger is human but was able to achieve this legendary feat after searching for most of his life. The particular Devourer was a Hive Devourer and had an astonishing 4000lbs worth of biomass at the time and thus Jaeger is capped with that as his maximum biomass achievable. This, being a Hive Devourer, had the unique ability to split its body into smaller animals, each possessing the consciousness of the original. Effectively allowing him to be in multiple places at the same time. There is no hive mind abilities however despite the name, meaning if a smaller piece of him learns something it must return to the main body of the host for the knowledge to actually transfer back to his true mind. As long as his main "host" body exists, even if it were only the size of a rat, he will continue to live on. Devouring other creatures to regain his loss biomass and strength. Effectively making him immortal since demons do not age.
The only downsides are that since he is stuck with the body of this demon he can only consume living creatures for sustenance and should he ever be pushed far beyond his limit there is a chance for the soul of the demon to retake control of its body, locking away his consciousness forever.
Jaeger has mastered the abilities of this demon.
His main usage of these powers, is half for fighting and half for information gathering. To do this he first splits his total biomass of 4000lbs down the middle.
- With the first 2000lbs he forms his main human body and appearance: a 6'5 large and muscular man weighing around 250lbs, then a large grizzly bear, and finally a massive jaguar. These two "pets" appear as regular animals that he keeps at his side but unbeknownst to anyone else they both possess his full intelligence, consciousness, and if need be can shapeshift into multiple smaller bodies same as his main one.
- With the second 2000lbs he splits first into over 2000 small rats that he then spreads through out the city, using the sewers to travel around. With the remaining biomass he splits them 2/3 into "feral" cats through out the city and finally the remaining 1/3 into Hawks that fly high in the sky and perch. The cats and hawks serve as rendezvous points where the rat with important information is "captured" and eaten, the cat or bird then heads to Jaeger's lair and is promptly absorbed into him, transferring all the gained information into him before being redistributed back into the city.
