Rakes primarily resemble their birth race, although they take on animalistic traits as pleases their lord. Although there is no rhyme or reason to the change, they tend more to animals native to their region with connotations to their gender. As such, female rakes often take traits of cats, insects, and birds, while males take on traits of dogs, sea creatures, and large mammals.

Rakes care little for extended courtship unless they see someone as an asset to be continually milked for information. A majority of rake courtship is centered on seducing victims before magically forcing information out of them and abandoning them.

History

Rakes are recruited from particularly devout members of The Gorgeous Church and, as such, have existed since its formation. Rake activity increases just before major events, influential legislature, and the crowning of new monarchs. Because of this sense of precognition, it is posited that they also have a connection to Lakio although, for obvious reasons, one has never been asked for the specifics.
