Session 2 - 11th of Thellonde Midday 948 ACW

General Summary

The group made their way onto the Seawolf and spotted Holme before getting onto the ship. During dinner, Holme joined them and asked again that they take on the job he had offered the night before. They again refuse but think it's best to keep an eye on the elf.  Once they bedded down for the night their sleep was interrupted by the sound of a two-headed snake attacking in the lower decks of the ship, after taking care of it the group did some investigating and felt it was most likely that Holme caused the snake to appear on the ship. Though they did not know his reason why.
In the morning Team 17 got their things together and left the ship with high praises from its captain and as they started out of the town Holm caught up to them saying that since they were all heading in the same direction that it would be best if they all traveled together. The group agreed seeing it as a good way to keep an eye on him. Once they reached the town of Tarrin, Holme paid for all of their expenses and seemed to also have a good relationship with the owners of The Crossed Candles inn which was one of the nicer ones in town. They talked to the owner and his son and learned that Holme had been very good to them in the past, even paying for repairs on the inn but the owner's son Peyton did not trust the elf.
In the morning Holme told the group that he needed to take care of something but would be back in an hour to keep them moving. Rahmiel and Kal decided to follow after him from a stealthed position. Rahmiel was able to overhear a conversation Holme had with an agent of The Crimson in which he seemed hesitant to bring the spear back but he would do the job asked of him saying that even he did not get the staff himself he would have a way to get it. Once back on the road the group was able to make it to Orrinshire with little to no hindrance thanks to Holme it seemed and once there they found themselves getting the same treatment as they had in Tarrin. Holme got drunk during the night and the group used that to their advantage and ask the elf questions. Finding out that he truly didn't know who the spear would be going to, but he was worried about what would happen if it got into the wrong hands even with it being inert. He also told the group that he had a few buyers on the line for the spear and knew of a good fabricator who could make replicas, believing that since the spear couldn't be used for it's intended purpose that selling off fakes would not be a big deal. Holme also told the group that he would be making 35,000 gp on the deal and would be willing to pay them 2,400 gp for their help.
In the morning they agreed to work with him if only to make sure he didn't find a way to jump ahead of them and take the spear without their knowledge. Holme tried to give them an advance payment of 300 gp, but they turned that down in seeing they were already somewhat indebted to the man after having him pay for their expenses for the past few days. They made it to the sinkhole and once their Holme told them he would wait outside of the hole for them to come back.
