Ormir
Ormir are a medium sized lizard-like beings. They have a boxy head atop a bipedal body with a tail that almost reaches the ground. Their tough scaly skin ranges from grey to brown to green. Their greatest settlements are in Ejeiluch Glaf /ɛʤeɪluʧ glɑf/, the dry mountainous regions that border the great desert Gusouh /gusaʊh/. Due to their exothermic nature they are most active during the mornings and evenings. To prevent overheating, in their homeland, they spend the hottest hours resting in their cavern homes. Culture and Cultural Heritage
Unlike the other beast races, Saurid makes heavy use of metals and tool making. They also are similar to humans in their communication methods. They use a primarily verbal language called Ormiric. Due to the harsh craggy region they inhabit they have little interaction with the other beast races. It is said they have dealings with various human trader caravans.
Saurids spend their days basking in the sunrise, working at their chosen duty until nearly midday, retreat to the shade until the evening, return to work until sundown, and return home to sleep. Their needs would be provided for and your labors would contribute to the community. When there was excess they would enjoy the occasional luxury. When a Saurid reaches adulthood they are cast out of the commune. They are tasked to seek something of value to contribute to the commune. It could be a precious artifact, or some new lore to add to the commune’s library. A Saurid may return to their commune of origin or attempt to join a new commune using their contribution to buy membership.
History
According to Ormir legend they once were slaves to beings of stone. Uthri Sataikerglaoo led a rebellion and slew these stone gods. These Ormir stepped out of the metal huts of the stone gods and fled to the stony mesas of the surrounding deserts.
