Falaisian Ethnicity in Orrus | World Anvil

Falaisian

With the Midnight War and the opening of the Withering Void swallowing up a majority of their lands and people, the Falaisians have become a disenfranchised group, one on the verge of extinction. The remaining Falaisians either cling to what lands they have left straddling the northern edges of the Withering Void or have emigrated to other parts of Serrus seeking a new life. This dispersion of their people has diluted their culture somewhat, but the Falaisians are determined to keep their traditions alive. This tenacity is the main reason their culture still exists today.   The Falaisian people also have a universal debt to the Rynnish people to their north. With a severe lack of fighting men, the Rynnish have a long running pact with the Falaisians to help man the Witherwall guarding their lands from the beasts from the Void. To this day, the Rynnish bolster the Falaisian soldiers on and around the wall.   The Falaisians enjoy art and music. Thankfully, much of their works of both have survived largely intact. This is mostly because the city that was (and still is) the center of Falaisian art Vallon Deuil, was spared from the Void due to being the northernmost Falaisian City.

Everyone is either saddened or repulsed by the Falaisians due to the events that ended in the Withering Void opening, even after so many centuries. Some blame them for it; others feel they were just victims of a few wayward individuals’ actions. Either way, the Falaisians never have really recovered their former might.
