Centaur
A human-equine hybrid having the torso and head of a human and the body of a horse, centaurs are indigenous to Western Orr, particularly North Ordalen in the regions of Faer'Chellon and Saer'Chellon. They are hunter-gatherers and often nomadic, roaming the plains of Amaren, throughout Namia, and found again in Fayne. They also have a prominent population on the island of Canta in the far east, with growing numbers even within the cities of Alon Amphrael and the Kingdom of Capria.
While centaurs tend to prefer their semi-nomadic, tribal lifestyles, some of them do have permanent camps and clans, especially near and around Namia. They're extremely intelligent and produce their fair share of scholars. Most have an affinity for nature magic, some arcane, and can be Imbued. They have a fondness for fine art, usually surrounding things such as music, dance, and poetry, but centaurs are also the masters of oral storytelling traditions, both for historic reasons and entertainment. Even so, they also produce plenty of sculptors, painters, and actors, most of whom make their way into one or more of the larger settlements for study and to make a living. The centaurs found on the island of Canta, off the coast of Alon Amphrael (and protected by the Alonian Empire) have a greater predilection towards combat, and produce some of the best warriors by comparison to their plains dwelling cousins. Those of North Ordalen, however, are just as skilled with bow and arrow and have an affinity with animals such as wolves, birds of prey, and other apex predators that make them exceptional beast masters and hunters. Centaurs range in size from 14- to 16 hands (measured to the mid-back, as they lack equine withers). They typically produce offspring once a year, as gestation ranges from 10 months to almost 1 year. It is rare that they produce more than one offspring at a time, but twins are not unheard of within their circles.
