Kingdom of Capria

For decades, the city of Capria had been the hub of activity and trade for several territories. During the Border Crises of 4220, the then young leader of Capria, Casius LeGrane, offered many of those smaller territories protection. He did so without any reservation, and without any expectations from those outlying settlements, save for one condition: they would have to send people to help the fight to protect their homes. People did so without reservation, and because he hadn't imposed his rule on them, they eventually made Casius their defacto ruler. During the worst of the conflict, he was granted absolute power, as the people who interacted with him found him to be fair and just and to mete out justice in ways no leader had done before him, with compassion, fairness, and with an aggressive stance against tyranny.   Before the kingdom had ever been established, Casius LeGrane ruled as his father had taught him. The hierarchy of his nobility consisted of three tiers, the Inner Circle, the 2nd Circle, and the 3rd House, what people have come to call the "The Outer Ring", or simply, the "Ripple". Nobility could not merely buy their way into any of these tiers. The Inner Circle is reserved for those Casius believed would support the kingdom as he intended, whether his back was turned or not. The Queen is the heart and soul of the Inner Circle. The 2nd Circle was much the same, though these were not the people Casius relied on heavily for support, whether monetary or military, or for resources. The Round of Influence may be the outer most ring, but it is also the most influential in terms of the kingdom. It is comprised mostly of minor nobility — earls and barons, and counts, but also the most influential religious figures and tradesmen linger here. Most conduct themselves accordingly, but there are some influences involved that don't always have the king's or the kingdom's best interest at heart.   In its formative years, Casius gave his wife and Queen, Lydia Argan-LeGrane, carte blanche to shape and influence the kingdom as she pleased.
