Rygar

Rygar is a Terran colony world on the The Terran Republic and Tazzyn border.

Origins and Colonization

Rygar was originally founded late in the colonial drive, 2160 and was disputed by the Tazzyn Empire before they conceded it to the Terran Federation after the 2nd Karkouri War. After the Karkouri occupation Rygar was Abandoned.
Rygar was refounded in 2575 by House Moreland, the project originally under the auspice of Pierce Moreland quickly transfered to his daughter and heir, Lysa Moreland.
The Rygar charter was formalised in 2575 and laid out the path to colony status for Rygar, and the desire to join the Republic once the colony was established. It laid out the actions that the Moreland family must take to found the colony, and take up the office of hereditary govenor.
Starlight Mining set up a permanent mining colony, providing the first jobs on Rygar, while HCP build a number of garden cities, along with trade and industrial zones. The initial population that could be handled was 7 million.
HCP also contructed planetary transports networks for transit and industrial goods movement, a healthcare network, space elevator and spaceport transport hub. After the initial contruction Nutragen, PrimePulse Entertainment, OmniGoods Galactic, Corestone Banking and Investment and Medialliance Group set up on the planet to provide industry and jobs for the initial 7 million colonists.
In 2580 House Moreland completed the obligations of the Rygar Charter and the Colony was officially founded with Lysa Moreland taking up the Mantle of Grand Duchess of Rygar.

Climate and Geography

Rygar is a generally cold world, but has liquid oceans. There are large mountain ranges on the planet, which are the habbitat of the Ice Helion, a natural predator to Rygar.
The planet has a active geothermal enviroment that leads to warmer zones which are the most frequently inhabited.

Government

Rygar is under the monarchy of House Moreland, with the Grand Duchess/Duke of House Moreland being the hereditary govenor.
Rygar is a constitutional Monarchy, with a hereditary govenor, elected lueitenant govenor, elected Attorney General and elected legislator. The govenor has broad excutive powers and the veto.
The planetary legislature is democratically elected every 5 years.
Rygar joined the Republic in 2600. Duchess Lysa Moreland stated that she would appoint one Senator and the other would be elected to the Republic Senate.

Demographics

As of 2600 Rygar had a population of approximatly 10,000,000
