Horizon Seekers of Ardvik

Ardvik's navigators and mapmakers guild.

Structure

The Pilot-Major is responsible for the handlings of the guild locally. They also represent their local branch in the national guild. The next most important people are the Officer of the Treasury,  the Officer of Charts, and the Officer of Stars. Various clerks are on staff to keep the record straight. Beyond that, the guild consists of navigators, mapmakers, and explorers.

Culture

The baseline of the guild is easy-going and approachable. The higher up the hierarchy you go, the more strict people adhere to the rules, but overall the Ardvik branch of the Seekers is not all that rule-loving.

Public Agenda

Make the voyages of Igers possible and safe.  Map out all possible locations. Chart the stars and teach a new generation how to read them.

Assets

A nice headquarters in the harbour district, with a telescope on top. A sizable treasury. Many maps and star charts. A ship dedicated to exploration.

History

The Ardvik branch of the Horizon Seekers guild was founded a few decades after the town itself, around 3180ADW. Ardvik had been rapidly gaining popularity as a hub for restocking before and after trades and raids. The guild realized that a guildhall in the town could save many captains having to hire a navigator before strictly necessary.        In 3491, a great fire burned through most of the guildhall, along with most of the maps and star charts in it. The guildhall was rebuilt with improvements, but many of the maps have not been redrawn since.
