The first winged aircraft takes flight!

Technological achievement

After many decades of experimentation and failure, with the agreement of Matsuko, the main "flight team" designs a craft based on Tiyama, as well as proposing potential varitions. The first flight brings all of Orlon closer to the stars.

Matsuko, Sinakai, Sinabi, Stalver, and his lab partner, and team, all gathered around the new engine. There was a high likelihood that this final iteration would be the one that finally opened the skies to the Orlon for the first time in their history.   The group stood behind a blast shield, whereas Matsuko stood right beside it, despite the team's protests. "What do you MEAN it's not an elemental reactionary chain explosion?! What does that even mean?!"   "Hope you never have to find out but that's a risk that comes with developing technology that leads to travelling the stars. Your children or grandchildren will likely see that. ...And well depending on how long the oldest lizard observed is Sinakai might even get to see the first artificial satellites to join Ayabis and Sheshbuchuu. Combine that with our video technology and all of Orlonians will be able to see the significance of our flag. Now let's see how many Raltens I'll be tossing around shall we? Everyone, protection on!"   A soft, barely audible click was heard, and then nothing. "Hmm, I imagine it needs a bit of time to warm up. Literally. Though now you all have a new figure of speech. A series of events that lead to the desired result.   After a minute a soft hum began to fill everyone's ears. The engine has been covered in a sound dampening casing, so as to allow for sound to not give one's location away.   When five minutes had passed the low humming had elevated to a soft whine that increasingly grew louder. With the increased volume also came a huge rattling of the engine itself which was secured in place.   "Oh dear… hm…"   Everyone was growing visibly concerned, and his statements didn't help reassure them. All of this was completely new to them, including Matsu himself.   He continued to let the engine run, and with a very violent rattling the engine began to put off a glow.   The glow intensified as well producing a small jet of plasma of an intense blue colour. That was the end of the good news, as the heat from the plasma melted the containment metal and caused a series of unseen failures.   After another five minutes of running the engine rattled so harshly that it began to shake itself apart with the loosened containment parts.   "Milord… that… that... doesn't seem safe…" Sinakai was deeply concerned by the uncontrolled rattling and whining.   "Oh it's not in the slightest. It's going to explode. That's why you're behind the blast shield in case I miss anything." He let off a highly unnerving grin, as well as a chuckle.   "WHAT?! Why aren't you shutting it off then?!" Petrius cried in horror, his voice rising several octaves as he was left stunned by what he'd heard.   Finally the time came. Matsuko began to glow as well, though his was one that was a pale purple, . The metal pieces on his outfit began to make all sorts of racket, and his loose cloth began to rise, as if lifted by air.     “I need to catalogue the effects personally...in addition you’ll get to learn a bit more about me. I feel you all deserve it after such a long while.”   With a violent room rattling explosion, the engine came apart, but most of the shrapnel froze in place in front of him, before they dropped to the floor.   What smaller pieces remained were caught by the blast shield, hanging harmlessly in place.   "Wow! What a blast!" His voice took on a singsong tone after the last word, showcasing just how odd he was being about the whole situation.   "Allllll right. I've seen much from you...but I cannot wrap my head around what I just saw. How did you do that? ...And what was that purple wall that… came from you?"   The others held looks of confusion as they had witnessed no such thing.   "What did you just say Sinakai? What did you see?' He instantly turned to face him, with it now being his own tail to give away his excitement.   "It… looked like you were on fire, but with purple flames. Then what I think is a wall made of the same source appeared." The approximation was not lost on him.   "This is a very fortunate development. I should have investigated earlier. Petrius you remember the purple orb I showed you? I want you all to learn more about it. But that'll be for after we get a working engine. This wasn't a 6 failure. Should we need to, we now have the capacity to create fragmentation devices of almost any size. Before these are with our fliers as it is so, we need to reduce the explosion percentage to zero or five percent and train them to feel and hear their craft."   The next set of tests were wholly uneventful, with significant progress being made on the stability of the casing. Following that achievement, sound muffling of the engine and its components. Finally, the first propeller was affixed to the front of the engine.   Due to the ridiculous amount of thrust, several solutions were needed. The first of which involved creating a series of sound dampening materials, followed by studying ways to not restrict air flow at the same time.
