The Asssassin

The Assassin is the thirteenth constellation and is represents one of the celestials. There are many names used for the assassin, including Dikra, Ngorun, Klíglageg, Jeshelii and the Dark. The Assassin has some of the greatest variation across cultures and so possess many different attributes.

The Assassin

The Assassin is the common name for the constellation in the West. The Assassin is most often associated with misfortune and secrecy, as well as petty crime such as thievery. He is depicted as being male though his face is hidden under a cloak of shadow. Prayer to the Assassin isn’t uncommon in the hopes of deterring bad luck and hoping for protection. Prayers may also carry the hope of bringing longer days.

The Dark

The Dark is an alternate name common in the North-western kingdoms. The Dark shares many attributes with the Assassin, though tends to have a greater association with the natural cycle of night rather than criminal activity. The Dark is also depicted as male but instead of only being depicted in shadow, the dark has a cloak decorated with stars and tends to have the two moons held in each hand, Selder in the right and Imder in the left. Additionally, the Dark is believed to be second in command of the Celestials, answering only to the Monarch. The Dark is responsible for keeping the stars in their correct positions.

Klíglageg

Klíglageg is the Sareth version of the Celestial, translating to "living shadow". Much like the Dark, Klíglageg is more often associated with night and secrecy than criminal activity. In Sareth tradition, Klíglageg was the one who created the heavens and painted representations of the Celestials there to watch over Oritas. Klíglageg is depicted as having black scales speckled with starlight, glowing white eyes and carrying a dagger made of stars.

Dikra

Dikra is perhaps the darkest form of this Celestial, belonging to the North-eastern kingdoms. Dikra is associated with all things evil. This includes criminals such as murderers, thieves and assassins, as well as dark magic such as blood magic and necromancy. Dikra is depicted as both male and female and has a number of appearances though most typically either as a skeleton necromancer or as a cutthroat assassin. Worship of Dikra is banned.

Ngorun

Ngorun belongs to the Irkka pantheon. She is associated with darkness, much like the Dark and Klíglageg. It is believed the proximity of the north-western kingdoms to Irkka lands is what caused the Dark to shift away from the Assassin or Dirka. Ngorun is a benevolent being and is often associated with philosophy and calm.

Jeshelii

Jeshelii (or Yeshelii) is the Aeshwenii name. Jeshelii, much like the other Aeshwen Celestials, is more of a spirit than a divine being. Jeshelii is believed to be responsible for bringing night and eventually, winter.

Attributes

Individuals born under the thirteenth constellation are believed to be cunning, opportunistic, and have a tendency for dark acts. This does not necessarily mean they are willing to commit murder, but are believed to lie and cheat more often. This belief has led to people in some regions to lie about their sign in order to avoid the stigma, mostly where Dirka and the Assassin are revered.

Divine Domains

The Assassin is associated with different characteristics depending on culture of origin. These include the night, darkness, philosophy, misfortune, winter and criminal activity.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Due to the diversity of beliefs about this Celestial, there are many different symbols used in worship. The only common theme among all of them is the association with shadows and darkness. In the northwest, a dagger placed over the two moons is the common symbol, while in Akrayt an eight point star with the downward point lengthening into a blade is used.
