Satrap

A Satrap is a provencial governor from the nation of Vyzanthia. They are elected by a vote held among a particular Satrapy's nobility, and must be a member of the nobility themselves. They are usually local nobility, but on some occasions may come from a neighbtoring Satrapy, brought in by marriage. Any Satrapy in which the Emperor is not present, the Satrap is the highest authority, effectively above the law. The actions of a Satrap can only be quetioned by the Emperor himself, although those who are ineffectual often find themselves facing Imperial intervention, in the form of a visit by an Imperial Minister.
