Ishtaya

Ishtaya was known as the Lich Queen, and was a member of the Pact of Iron. An undead sorceress of phenominal power, the only thing greater than her lust for power was her vanity. She underwent a long, protracted series of rituals, maintaining her mortal beauty even into lichdom. But her youth and vigor came at a cost, and required a blood sacrifice... a human life, one each month. But that did not last, and over the years, the power of the ritual weakened as her power as a lich grew. Soon, it was a life every other week, then every week, then every day, then more than one a day. Her lust for the blood of the innocent, needed to maintain her youth, led to sacrifices in droves at the base of her tower.
Ishtayas Tower remains as a monument to the cruelties of her age. Her tower was sealed, and she was enied the sacrifices she needed, forcing her to abandon it's safety to face the Order of the Golden Rose in the field, leading to her downfall. An expedition entered her tower to retrieve her phylactery, and while successful, only one member survived.
