Planetary Governor
A seat of representatives on Earth elects a Planetary Governor to govern their respective planet. They control most external trade networks, border disputes, Sol's military presence, and general planetary management. Although they wield near ultimate say over their constituent planet, many minor territories ignore their orders and turn to self-governance, sparking independence movements among the outer colonies.
Requirements
In order to be elected by their representatives, a potential candidate must have 4 years of college experience and be at least 30 years old
Appointment
Governors are appointed by their planetary representatives on Earth in a majority vote
Benefits
Immense economic clout and fame on the planet they govern
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
If a governor is found to be acting out of line, their planetary representatives can call another majority vote to have them removed from office. If this vote fails and civil disputes still prevail, the President of the United Nations of Earth can veto their decision.
