FTL Drive
A highly experimental drive used to travel at faster-than-light speeds. Its functions are still highly enigmatic, and its traveling capabilities were only successfully discovered after it was initially tested as a deep-space missile. It was quickly redesigned and shoved into a spaceship. The following is pretty self-explanatory.
Many variations of the original FTL Drive exist, but they all follow the same defining principles: they consume fuel to propel a ship to and from faster-than-light speeds.

Discovery
Originally used as the engine block for an experimental deep-space missile launching system, it was discovered to have abnormal properties when the missiles were launched at speeds faster than light and phased through their target into the void.
