Valley of Marching Towers

Surrounded on all sides by the Bebaki Heights, the Valley of Marching Towers is both a refuge and a death trap. It is the only land in the region capable of sustaining human life, with wooded areas to the west, fresh water from Baldreng’s Mirror, and a rare break in the unrelenting mountain cold.   Yet despite this, no true civilization has ever flourished here.   The valley takes its name from the massive stone formations scattered throughout it. Titanic pillars of ancient rock, some half-collapsed, others standing tall like forgotten sentinels. The human tribes say these were once the legs of marching colossi petrified in some distant age. The Goliaths however, believe they were once the foundations of a giant empire now lost to time.   But no one truly knows.   Though it is the only place fit for human survival the tribes do not grow too large. For when they do, the Giants and Goliaths ensure their numbers are cut down.   The valley is also cursed by war. The human tribes, though bound by their shared struggle, often skirmish over resources ensuring that even without outside threats, death is always near.   Despite its dangers, the Valley of Marching Towers remains the only true home of humankind in Bebaki Heights. Where their fires burn, their histories are whispered and their battle cries still echo between the stones of forgotten ages.

Geography

The valley is fully encompassed by the Bebaki Heights. A large freshwater lake of Baldreng’s Mirror fed from mountain streams and run off dominates a large portion of the eastern side of the valley.
