The Great Collapse aka The Black Fog Crisis (SE 14): An industrial accident in the Ironward lead to the creation of the Black Fog Districts. The Order's failure to prevent and correct this disaster has led to growing dissent in the Lower City.
Present Day (SE 285): The Order faces mounting resistance from revolutionary groups and struggles to maintain its grip on a city teetering between technological ambition and social unrest.
Demography and Population
Argenthold houses approximately 1.2 million inhabitants:
- Upper City: About 120,000 elite residents.
- Lower City: About 600,000 working-class and impoverished citizens.
- Ironward: About 360,000factory laborers and guild members.
- Black Fog Districts: About 120,000 scavengers and outcasts.
The birth and death rates vary significantly between the districts, with the Upper City enjoying advanced medical care and the Lower City struggling with harsh conditions.
Territories
The Order controls the entirety of Argenthold, its surrounding territories, and the ley line network beneath the city. These lands were originally ancestral to early Aetheric settlers but are now firmly under the Order's dominion.
Military

Umm, so...Foreign Relations
The Red Hammers: Hostile.
The Automaton Collective: Uneasy coexistence: the Order allows limited autonomy wile seeking to prevent rebellion.
The Circle of Etherion: Neutral: occasional cooperation in Aetheric research.
The Sky Lords: Pragmatic; trade agreements exist, though tensions arise over smuggling and monopolistic practices.
Laws
Property and Trade: All ley lines and Aetheric resources are property of the Order. Unauthorized tampering is punishable by imprisonment or exile.
Worker Rights: Labor laws in the Ironward enforce strict schedules but offer little protection to workers.
Magick Regulation: Practicing unsanctioned magick is a grave crime, punishable by confiscation of materials and imprisonment.
Dissent: Publicly speaking against the Order is heavily monitored and punished through fines or forced labor.
Laws are stored in the Argent Archives, maintained within the Argent Spire.
Agriculture & Industry
Industry dominates the Order’s economy:
- Primary Activities:
- Steam and Aether-powered machinery production.
- Mining of Ferrixite and Aether crystals.
- Clockwork automaton design and deployment.
- Agriculture: Limited rooftop gardens and imported food sustain the population. The polluted environment makes large-scale farming impossible.
Trade & Transport
The Order of the Silver Dawn maintains a robust trade and transportation network, integrating advanced technology and magical infrastructure to ensure the flow of goods across Argenthold and its surrounding territories.
- Trade Routes:
- Skyways: Aether-powered airships transport high-value goods like Aether crystals and Ferrixite across long distances, docking at the Upper City’s airship ports.
- Rail Networks: Steam-driven trains connect the Ironward, Lower City, and outlying territories, efficiently moving raw materials and finished goods.
- Underground Channels: Secret ley line routes are occasionally used to transport classified materials, bypassing public scrutiny.
- Key Tradeports:
- The Sky Docks in the Upper City manage most of the luxury and long-distance trade.

Divine Origins
Actual Origin of Nyxis
Nyxis was born from the collective effort of ancient, highly advanced beings called the Arcanid, a race that wielded a mastery over both technology and mysticism. These beings engineered Nyxis from a vast nebula, seeding it with Aether and embedding ley lines across its surface to stabilize and enrich the world with magickal energies. While the Arcanid have long since vanished, their influence remains in the form of Aether and the arcane structures that power cities like Aetherion. The world of Nyxis is, in essence, a carefully crafted experiment left to evolve and develop without direct interference—until the Arcanid return to see the results of their creation.
