The Astral Plane

The Astral Plane wraps around each and inner and outer plane and leads dead souls to The Boneyard and then onwards to whichever plane their soul is judged as belonging to whether through their actions or bargains they made as mortals.

The plane is best imagined as a large river linking all parts of the universe together with Psychopomps paddling the boats of souls to where they need to go.

The Astral Plane is also known as the River Styx.

The plane houses denizens of its own which tend to be peaceful and uncaring of the other being traveling through. Some of these denizens are even mortals or other planar creatures who have discovered the way to travel up and down the plane and use this to travel between worlds.

The Astral Plane finds its source at the top of The Grand Mountain of Heaven as it was formed by the Prime Deities as a way to bring souls to their new planes. At the beginning of the Age of Renewal it flowed simply back into the boneyard but when Viskara formed Abbadon he took the end of the river and placed in in the new plane, forming The Drowning Court, the place where all undecided dead go, the home of Quanros, The Pale Rider.
