Pit Fiend

Pit Fiends are the cruellest and most powerful of all devils bar Archdukes and the Devil Princes themselves.

The apex of the regular devil hierarchy, Pit Fiends are the Generals and commanders of the infernal legions. Pit fiends serve their Archdukes and Princes personally, powerful enough to influence the commands and schemes of even the strongest devils.

There are two ways to become a Pit Fiend, a devil who works hard and shows exemplary skill and cunning may be promoted by a higher ranking devil. Working their way up the devilish hierarchy and growing in more power as time continues. The other is to be formed from thousands of Lemures and crafted into a brand new Pit Fiend without advancing through the hierarchy.

The creation of a Pit Fiend is a rare and monumental moment, the creation of a being a near powerful as a minor God. Due to this very few Pit Fiends are made from scratch, only in most dire circumstances when an immediate advantage is needed does this happen.

Pit Fiends are inherently jealous and vindictive creatures, despite their high place they still aspire for more, and covet the positions of Archdukes and Princes. Any Pit Fiend in rotation is seen as only competition, and so many are loathe to promote or form a new being which could eventually supplant them.
