Painted Canvas
Painted Canvas is a Catfolk pirate hailing from Genna.
Canvas was born as a second class citizen and slave to the overlords and aristocracy of Genna, due to a crime committed by his father years before his birth. However, during an attempted uprising, Canvas was able to escape along with a few other slaves and fled down Nahare River. It would be here that Canvas would find his love of sailing, traversing the giant river along with his fellow escapees was the first taste of freedom the boy had ever experienced. They followed the river all the way to The Oasis of Sarene in the heart of Olanos and received aid and support after their long journey and escape.
Canvas knew that going back to free his parents was an impossible task and that they had told him to live, and so live he did. Canvas continued down river and boarded the first ship that would accept him. It was here that he would begin his journey as a pirate and sailor.
After many years at sea, Canvas stole a ship of his own from a wealthy Ushgard merchant and formed a crew, renaming her The Delusions of Grandeur. Canvas would discover that not only was this ship ready for sea, but was in fact an Airship and could take him to the skies as well as the open ocean.
During his time trying to find a crew that was capable of flying as well as sailing, Canvas was caught trying to steal diagrams from a member of The Opperice Club who had business in airships and other Ushgardian technologies. Threatening to have Canvas hanged, the pirate found himself in dire straits until the situation was smoothed over by Zebediah Shaw, who promised to return the stolen goods and pay any damages.
Canvas at this point fell into the employ of Shaw and the pair worked together to further Shaw's business interests for several years. Canvas would later be placed into the employ of The Abnormals by Shaw as a reward for them helping him regain control of the Opperice Club.
