Cavination
Cavination is a rare disease only affecting avians.
Avians can undergo a transformation which changes the bone structure from a mammals to that of a bird.
In rare cases the body of the concerned Person overreacts, which leads to the development of one of two Cavination versions, explained further below.

Causes
Every Avian undergoes several transformations in their lifetime. This can include the restructuring of bones to lighten them.
Cavination is caused when the body overreacts to this transformation.
Symptoms
There are two different ways a Cavination can progress:
Concentrated:
A concentrated Cavination means it affects one bone at a time. Avians afflicted by this art will notice a quick increase in sharp pain and swelling in the affected area.
This form of Cavination makes it highly likely to fracture afflicted bones even in early stages of the disease.
Spread:
A spread out Cavination means, that it affects most bones in the body equally at the same time, as such, Avians afflicted by this type will most often notice a dull pain and slight swelling on a few places which slowly spready throughout the whole body.
Afflicted Avians are prone to develop deformities.
What both types have in common is that the skull and spine are most often affected last.
Once the disease has progressed to this stage, victims will slowly lose their teeth and develop severe and lasting pain until the spine is thoroughly dissolved and paralysis takes place.
Prognosis
All versions of Cavination lead to the bones fully dissolving.
This resulted, until recently, in a 100% mortality rate.
Due to the discovering of Treatment it still can't be reversed, but at least stopped.

Affected Groups
The only group afftected by this disease are Avians who, unlike Felines and Reptilia, can undergo the transformation of "hollowing" out the bones.
Cultural Reception
Avians afflicted by Cavination are, in most settlements, immediatly taken care of and are excluded from all types of work.
Due to the known fatality it is custom to make the life of afflicted Persons as pleasant as possible for its remaining time.
