To the Waters and the Wild

You are sequestered by the queen Titania for the night to allow you to heal your wounds. Thengel and Narmo bid you good night and head off to their dwelling. A Green knight guard leads you through this corridor of fir trees to a sheltered spot within the court. There's a green net like substance above your heads which provide shelter from the elements. Small dancing fire lights encased in glass bottles hang from the boughs of the trees in this space. You see a few tree stumps which serve as tables and chairs. The green knight stomps his foot three times with not a word. And suddenly you see from the tops of the trees what looks like braided vines and leaves slowly drift down and hang suspended. They look like some sort of hammocks. The knight bows to you and walks back to where you came from.   Is there anything you would like to do before you take your rest?   The party takes a long rest.   They all have strange Surreal abstract dreams involving a figure watching them as they either sleep or go about their business within the dream. It is quite odd and you feel a bit unnerved being watched.. you can't see your figure fully but you can only perceive that it is large.   You awaken in your hammocks the following morning feeling particularly refreshed and rejuvenated after what felt like probably the best sleep of your lives, despite the dreams. Suddenly the trees you're hanging from begin moving. They have sprouted legs and are walking with your hammocks wrapped around them like a fancy shoulder bag. Each slow measured step swings your hammock around as you lie in it.   "You have an Appointment with the queen" One of them says in response.   You are back in the queen's chamber where you see more creatures seem to have gathered along with the ones you've seen the previous day.   Your hammocks begin lowering themselves onto the ground. You see queen Titania wave you forward with an adorable smile on her face.   Her eladrin steward again approaches you all "Queen Titania thanks you for the service you performed for the realm. You have been named friends of this court and as such, after careful consideration, her majesty will grant you access to what you seek. You may give this note to D'unahzaal, The Keeper of the Forgotten. It is to instruct him to hand over the 333 gems of Tharizdun to your keeping under the condition that they can never return to this land and are hereby entrusted to you to transport them out and ultimately destroy them. Do we have a mutual understanding?"   The queen points her outstretched hand towards the floor of the court. As she does you see the ground and dirt shift as a great circular opening appears near your feet. You look down and see a rudimentary staircase made of what appears to be Roots winding lower and lower into a dark pit that you can't see the bottom of. Even those with Dark Vision     "Our lady asks you to Please be respectful when addressing the Keeper. He is a very old and dear friend of the Summer Court. And is entrusted with guarding objects of great and terrible power. Do nothing to harm our mutually beneficial relationship"   *marching order? *   You descend down the winding stair. The light from the lanterns above grow dimmer and dimmer as you delve deeper down. After about 100 feet down, you are walking in complete darkness. The walls go from a molded earth to solid stone (Either seeing with Dark Vision, or feeling about)   After about 300 feet...   Suddenly you feel the ground around you shaking as a low rumble emanates from the bottom of this pit.   :DC 10 Dex Checks:: ::9d6 Damage on a Failure::   90 Feet later...     As you reach the bottom you can make out torches dotting the walls and a fire burning in the center of the space you're in. It is a completely circular room - Looking like three bottom of castle tower with a Solid Stone floor. It is empty except for the fire burning in the center of the room. And you notice a middle aged human male sitting at the fire with his knees tucked to his chest. Just staring into the flames. Transfixed, motionless, he doesn't seem to notice or acknowledge your approach.   What are you guys doing?   The man's eyes blink rapidly and he shakes his head, breaking whatever trance he was under and looks over and greets you all with a kind smile.   (Sounds like Percy from Vox Machina) "Hullo! What brings visitors down into my abode?"   "Orders from the Queen? Hmmm. I have not had to part with one of my treasures in quite some time. This must be dire circumstances?"   "Or.... Perhaps you have tricked the most powerful fey in the multiverse and charmed her into letting you all into the sanctum where some of the most powerful and deadly artifacts are being kept for the sole pupose of destroying us all??!!?" He looks direly serious. But then a smile cracks on his face.   "Very Well. I will relinquish the gems to you. If I may ask, how do you plan on destroying them?"   "Of course I attempted to destroy them myself. But even an overwhelmingly powerful being such as I can't seem to crack these gems. The common thinking is that the way to destroy something made by a god would take an action of another god. And we all know how fickle those guys are up there on their mountains and their mystical upper planes. But that got me to thinking... You ever hear of Empyreans? They're the children of gods of the upper planes. They are said to be beautiful, statuesque, and usually so full of themselves that they think their farts as some sort of perfume. But.. they possess the strength of their mummies and daddies and are usually easier to reach. They don't enjoy being sequestered in their ivory citadels. They prefer to walk among us lower beings in the material plane. So they may be walking among you in far off places. It's said that their time down here changes them. They lose their godly benevolence and can turn bitter or jaded witnessing the cruelties of our lower planes. Some of them have been said to turn to evil as well. Once you return, I'd see if there are any leads back where you came from. They just might be what you're looking for"   "Then I shall pass it along to your keeping. Please stand back. By the wall"   And with that he places his hands together and begins rubbing them together in circular motions. As he does this you watch as the floor opens up in the center near where you're standing and emerging from this hole you see what looks like the top of a great wheel. Like the wheel of a ship. As it rises it begins spinning and you notice wedged in each spoke is a different item. You see them flash before your eyes as the wheel begins spinning faster and faster. It's hard to make out each individual item but you haven't seen the same one twice.   After a moment, the wheel begins slowing down and the Keeper's hand motions slow at the same rate. Finally the wheel lets out a big creak as it slowly comes to a stop with a black metallic chest on full display between the wheel spokes. It seems to be some sort of metal. The front has a carved sull with ram horns on it. And on the forehead of the skull is the twisted spiral symbol you know to be representative of Tharizdun.   "Here we are. Presenting The 333 gems of Tharizdun. Brought here after the Dawn War for protection and safe keeping. Forged by the God of madness and entropy himself. Forever imbued with his essence of evil and chaos in his final act before his defeat and imprisonment by the Unification. At the order of Queen Titania of the Summer Court, Hereby bequeathed to you. For the purpose of their destruction. If I may speak freely, a warning..."   He reaches into the wheel and removes the chest from the spokes. It's not a large chest but it does require him to use two hands to carry it over to you.   As he gets halfway there, A huge explosion erupts in front of him, hurling him backwards and dropping the chest about 30 feet away. It hits the floor and opens on impact exposing the blackish red and purple stones within. You watch as a glowing light burns brightly from the spot of the explosion. And from out of that point of light steps an Elderly gentleman dressed in Black and Red Robes. He begins walking toward the chest. He reaches down and picks up the chest and gives you a smile   (Roughly European accent) "Thank you. You have been most helpful." He begins walking back toward this portal."   "Deal with them!"   He shouts as he makes it back through the portal. As he steps in, three figures step out.   A Vicious looking demon emerges from the portal. He is a huge red monstrosity with 4 arms. Two of them resemble human arms and two appear to be over sized pincers. He has a dragon like head and webbed feet.   Along with this demon you hear the familiar "BZZZZZ" Sound as two Chasme emerge with him as the Portal closes behind them   Roll Initative Party + Gold Dragon Vs. 2 Chasme and 1 Glabrezu   On the Dragon's turn - Describe the transformation "Oh no. Not good. " You watch as this unassuming man hunches over and holds his midsection. He begins growling in a low human voice which eventually morphs and starts sounding less human. His body begins contorting violently and changing shape. His shoulders grow pointy and jagged. His feet transform into vicious looking talons. His skin begins emitting a sickly yellow. His skin goes from yellow to a vibrant golden color. You watch as his body begins growing exponentially. And with it, his low growl grows as well eventually reaching a deafening roar!   ::Everyone in the dragon's space make a DC10 acrobatics/athletics save or be knocked prone::   He continues transforming and growing impossibly large until you see standing before you a gargantuan ancient Gold Dragon! He unfurls his giant wings. His shiny exterior is a sight to behold.   He fiercely Growls   "Trespassers! interlopers! Back to the Abyss with you!!!"       After the fight....   The bodies of the demons disintegrate into black ash   You watch as this titanic gold dragon begins shrinking back down. And the transformation you witnessed earlier begins happening in reverse until after several seconds, The unassuming man is standing there once again.   You collect (Gems X however many times they hit Vaarn) scattered about the room.

D'unazaal says:

"If I may speak freely, a warning... these objects hold the essence of the Mad God himself. Just possessing this will take its toll on you. And It will make you a target of his followers. As this item has been sought by cultists of the mad God for millennia. It is believed that it may be used to return the God of Entropy to this realm to finalize his act of destroying the cosmos. Once it's back on the material plane, it may be detected by them somehow. You will be hunted for this. I hope you know what you are doing..."
For all intents and purposes, they have what they sought. Though not completely.
