Session 93: When Last We Met 9/8/24

General Summary

When last we met, The party were doing battle with an enclave of Yuan-Ti cultists, Bent on sacrificing them to their dark god, Merrshaulk. The party sustained heavy damage but were able to persevere in the end, Taking down each attacker one by one.
Vandread and Celeste felled the horrifying anathema with well placed melee and bow damage. The Mighty Yuan-Ti Abomination known as Tholsa was turned to a gas by Mistral and cut don by Vandread and other party members. And the spell wielding Pit Master was felled by a Finger of Death spell cast by Sebastian. This spell actually brought the creature back to life as a zombie in the service of Sebastian.
With their foes defeated, They are confronted by the onlookers of the battle led by Zashei who relays her anger and disappointment in being robbed of their sacrifice. Mistral gently assuages her by telling her that more victims were on their way (Referring to members of the Order of the Perpetual Shroud who were surely in pursuit). This placates her and the crowd and allows the party to slip inside the Temple.
Vandread casts rope trick which places the party inside a pocket dimension allowing them to take a short rest without fear of being attacked or interrupted. The party patch themselves up and then press on deeper into the temple. They squeeze their way into a main entry way and are greeted by a discarded book.
Celeste picks this up and opens it. It is NOT the book of vile darkness but instead a journal once belonging to an individual who called himself Alhazred "The Mad Mage". He details finding the Book of Vile Darkness and hiding it away in this temple. Each subsequent page found seems to paint a picture of Alhazred gradually losing his grip on his sanity as the book dug its claws deep into him.
The party see a stairway leading to a bridge that seems to be their next destination.
And that's where we'll pick up next time!

Zashei - Priestess or leader of the cult of Yuan-Ti living in this forgotten city. Promised other probable sacrifices will be coming in due time. 
Yuan-Ti Pit Master- Killd and resurrected by Sebastian. Now accompanies the party as a Zombie until killed off. 
Alhazred "The Mad Mage" - Not actually interacted with the party physically but the party found his journal and are learning much about him through that.
