Session 91: When Last We Met 8/25/24

General Summary

When last we met, The party had awoken to a new day of dispelling scrying orbs, Maintaining their airship transport, and staying hydrated and healthy as they traverse the eternal desert toward their unknown destination. Mistral, having a subdued Archivist Theodred under his command, has him tell him all he knows of the Order of the perpetual shroud and their inner workings. The Archivist says that He is a dead man for divulging these secrets. And now that Mistral and the party knows these things. It will not be long before they come to eliminate all of them to keep their guarded secrets. 
Captain Ernesto estimates another 9 days of travel to get to their destination so the party kind of gets used to the monotonous routine of waking up, destroying the scrying orb and going about their day onboard the massive airship. On the sixth night of their journey, the majority of the party are on the top deck of the ship taking their long rests (in their own way) When A group of people led by the slippery Ostera teleport aboard the ship. They surround the sleeping Archivist and Ostera warns the party they just want him. She and 2 other invaders keep an eye on the party while the assassins set to do their work. 
The party chooses not to intervene and this group brandishing blades begin Butchering the archivist. He dies right there on the deck. It seemed as though Ostera and crew were going to take their leave of the ship having silenced the Archivist. A little trash talking between Ostera and Vandread has her change her mind and she leaves her assassin's to deal with the party while she teleports away with the other spellcaster that was with her.
A battle ensues that quickly goes in favor of the Party. Mistral knocks one of the attackers off the ship and he is lost to the desert sands beneath. Another is knocked off the ship but grabs hold of a sail and crawls his way back onto the ship, Only to end up on his back at the mercy of Vandread who just incapacitated one of his other companions leaving him to be finished off by Moonwing. 
Still another Attacker takes 2 arrows to the throat from Celeste and 2 Eldritch blasts to the face from Romaia after attacking Mistral and Sebastian. He meets his end as Sebastian seems to lose control of his body and some other force within him grows tentacles that bash this assassin (Along with Mistral unfortunately) and eliminates him fully. Vandread finishes off the last of the assassins and silence returns to the ship once more.  
Having witnessed this carnage, Captain Ernesto sarcastically makes a comment about these "Friends" of theirs that they just dealt with. He instructs the party to strip them of valuables and dispose of them off the side of the ship. Vandread and his steel defender set to this task and as the bodies plummet to the sand below, He witnesses them being swallowed up by a giant worm of some kind. The creature that had been causing the undulation of the sands witnessed days prior. The captain describes this creature, known as Vishalkaikira as a pure force of nature, Old as the desert itself and unstoppable. He says that they are the main reason one does not simply walk through the eternal desert. Even saying they are viewed as gods by some. 
The party then realize they know very little about this land and of their captain. So the two parties set to remedying that as the night moves on. 
And that's where we'll pick up next time!

Found on the body of Archivist Theodred and the three assassins that ended his life.

Archivist Theodred - Member of the Order of the Perpetual Shroud. Spilled his organization's secrets to Mistral. Met his end by his own group silencing him. 
Ostera - Spellcaster and member of the Order of the Perpetual Shroud. She continues to be a foil and thorn in the side of The party
Captain Ernesto Sharima - Currently piloting the airship they are riding on. Told the party of the Vishalkaikira and proceeded to get better acquainted with the party.

• 6 days into this leg of their journey
• The party is beset upon by Ostera and a bunch of assassins
• She leaves and lets the assassins attack the party
• Party defeats the assassins
• Feeds their bodies to the Vishalkaikira (Giant worms)

It is night when we pick up next time. Long rest into morning.
