Session 56: When Last We Met 10/22/23
General Summary
When last we met, the party was in Tirasa hoping to summon a demon to gain information about the final avatar of Tharizdun.
After resupplying, They meet their old friend Sebastian for lunch and discuss their plan. He is onboard, but suggests a little caution and planning. They delegate players with different tasks and The party splits up as one heads to the abraxios academy to find someone who can cast Hold Monster. While the other half has the unenviable task of securing blood from a slain person. The first group has sucess as their contact Calder summons up a young pupil named Lucas who is specializing in Encanting. The young boy is less than thrilled to be doing work outside of his studies and quickly casts Hold monster into the ring of Spell storing before running off. The other half of the party speaks to a member of the Laminae named Billy who tells them of a bandit camp settled just outside of the city in the Guilewoods. The 4 hunters head there and spend the better part of the day tracking their quarry. They find them and bring the battle to them. Isolde casts sleet storm which renders the ground they walk on untenable to movement and many of them fall over. The party descends and the blood bath begins. The 3 lowly bandits are wiped out easily with their leader being knocked unconscious by Vandread with a note of warning left on his person. The 4 convince Romaia to store the 3 bodies in her bag of holding and they return to the manor just in time for Supper. They take their evening meal as Sebastian remarks that their new steward Vasil has many secrets. They sup their meal and take their rest in the safety of Maplevale Manor. The next morning they awaken and have a hearty breakfast where some information about different players backstories is told over the breakfast table. They then head down into the cellar to perform their dark ritual. Sebastian nervously orchestrates the whole affair, arranging the players in their respective areas. The Demon, A Dretch is summoned. A zone of Truth is cast on it, A casting of Hold Monster successfully binds the creature in place as well as a Hex placed upon it. Celeste and Vandread begin asking the creature questions they wish to know. All the while the creatre answers them under compulsion while quietly trying to break free of its multiple bonds. It successfully breaks out of the control Mistral had over it as it's summoner. It spends the rest of the remaining time it had on this plane unwillingly answering questions and trying to break the hold monster charm. Eventually It dissipates back to the Abyss as the spell naturally ran its course. But the party learned that The Avatar of Tharizdun is currently delving into the endless layers of the Abyss seeking a specific type of Demon that can open a portal to the Abyss as well as corrupt and contaminate creatures with its aura of decay. The party will be unable to find The avatar while it's down there until it is ready to be found. Then it will bring this creature and its war to the material plane. Since Tharizdun (The actual God) can not break free (Thanks to the efforts of the party) Its main goal is revenge and destruction. The party learn all they can and after questioning Sebastian about the Yellow Star, Decide its time they call upon the allies they've made to build an army to try and beat back the tides of war that will soon be washing on their shores. And that's where we'll pick up next time!
