Session 36: When Last We Met - 5/22/23
General Summary
When last we met, The party were invited to dine with the Lord of Melduinn. Sebastian Sommerset. Celeste, at first resistant to this idea, was convinced by a mass suggestion spell cast on She, Mistral, And Arcturus. The whole group decides to join him. And after testing to see if the food was poisoned (It wasn't). They take their supper. Sommersett asks the party about themselves and explains a little about himself and the history of the village. He is somewhat cagey when pressed for more details about his apparent deity, The Elder Elemental Eye.
The Earl asks the party to stay the night in his manor, but they politely refuse and decide to stay outdoors in their instant fortress. One of the servants, Victoria, escorts them outside to a suitable spot. After exchanging some small talk, the party pick up hints that Victoria has something she wants to discuss with the party. Within the Fortress, she reveals that the Earl is not who he says he is and details his apparent agelessness and a nearby mine where he takes victims, both willing and unwilling to meet their end down in the depths.
The party decide to investigate that mine just before sunrise. Victoria takes her leave of the party and they take a long rest within the tower. Rising just before dawn, they stealthily make their way into the mine. Mistral transforms into his gaseous mist self and scopes out the inside, which turns out to be another man-made series of chambers. He finds various enemies, corpses, and loot within and reports back to the party.
They all decide to clear this underground lair of the evil within just like their last expedition. They begin going room by room. Tensi killing a cultist as he slept, followed by a coordinated effort which saw Isolde launch magic missiles at another group of cultists, downing one. With Tensi and Vandread silencing the rest. Tensi, feeling the rush of Battle and the guidance of Kord, takes the initiative and deals with yet another group of cultists nearly single handedly.
With at least this part of the mine cleared out, The party takes a moment to look around, finding symbols on some of the walls in the chambers they've been through. Romaia reads the symbols, which are in Deep Speech, and finds them to be a series of otherworldly sounding words or names.
