Session 26: When Last We Met 2/20/23

General Summary

When last we met, the party had made their way from Shieldhearth towards the region known as Elder Peak. After a botched attempt at Teleportation by their traveling Companion, Maleeka, They decide to proceed on foot. They make the first half of their journey northward. Within the Highborn Forest, they come upon a dilapidated tower with a curious elderly man who seemed to know an awful lot about the party and their quest.  The party detects fiend qualities within the strange old man and decide they have had enough of civility and attack him outright. He reveals his true form - a humanoid draconic devil type creature. 
The party easily dispatches him and his body seems to return to its home plane upon his death at the hands of a well placed Eldritch Blast. Upon an investigation of the tower, they find he had a prisoner locked in a cellar. Tensi chops the lock off and opens it to reveal a strange looking Celestial/Humanoid, an Aasimar called Uriel. After some healing, they confided in the party that they received a vision from their guide that they were to lead a group of adventurers on their quest. 
They take their rest in an adjacent tower of their own construction and head off for the next leg of their journey. Seven more days across the country of Elder Isle, they reach the forests of Elder peak and are within reach of their goal. Uriel informs them that they will wait for them to return but that they were instructed to bring them no further. 
The party continues on with Maleeka gleefully leading the party. They come upon their destination but it is not as any of them had imagined it would be. Instead of a building or house or fortress there was only a broken down pedestal with a necklace on it.  Maleeka expressed confusion and aggravation at leading them on a wild goose chase.
Vandread requests a few minutes to cast the Identify spell, which reveals this mundane looking necklace is actually a gateway to a pocket dimension. They resolve to enter the pocket dimension. Mistral endeavors to touch the object with everyone else laying a hand on him to ensure they all make it to the other side. 
They find themselves instantly teleported to a long forgotten hideout of some kind. 
Maleeka gleefully proclaims this to be Mordenkainen's Lost Archives..

Adonias - Mild Mannered elderly man. Actually revealed to be a Devil from the Nine Hells. How did he know all about the party???
Uriel - An Aasimar adventurer, led into the clutches of Adonias by a quest to guide the party towards their objective.
