Session 22 - When last We met - 1/16/23
General Summary
When last we met, the party arrived in Tirasa and set out to the many tasks they had before them. Their first stop was Dainarv's Oddities where they tried to square away their debt to him with magic items they've got on their journey. Tensi gives up her Laulu stone and the party convince him of its rareness and usefulness through various demonstrations. Dainarv is so impressed with this tiny stone, he knocks off an extra item for them to find. Vandread gives a potion of Invulnerability to which Dainarv gladly accepts. Mistral then decides to give his Book of Shadows, informing Dainarv that they can all pull a successful ruse by selling it to some sucker, then Mistral will summon the book back into his possession leaving Dainarv with gold from the sale and Mistral getting his book back. Dainarv agrees only on the condition that he leaves it on consignment at the shop and Dainarv will inform him using the sending spell once the book is sold so that he can regain it.
Dainarv congratulates them for their hard work and even renumerates the party for their diligence. He informs them they still have one month left and only need to find him 2 more items. What could be easier?
From there, the party rents 2 rooms at the Lady's Brand tavern in order to investigate and identify the three items that were given to them by D'unahzaal, the Keeper of the Forgotten. They spend some time in one of the rooms and realize they have in their possession,
**Daern's Instant Fortress** **Iron Flask** **Rod of Resurrection** With this knowledge, they feel possibly a bit more secure in their task. They sleep in the lodgings prepared for them, and come morning, are on their way to the Abraxios Academy to find a way to make it into the Abyss. Their acquaintance at the Academy, Calder, informs them that an old colleague of his masterd the Plane shift spell long ago and has retreated into the Guilewoods to live a hermitic life of solitude. He also informs the party that there have been others paying him for information and research materials on similar things the party seeks. Calder is mum about who the other interested parties are, but confirms they did not have the symbol of Tharizdun on their persons. The party takes leave of the old Professor and stops by a few shops before leaving the city. They head southwest and easily make their way into the Guilewoods. Celeste leads the party right to a hastily assembled cabin in a clearing. Isolde marches up and knocks on the door, finding no response on the other side. At that moment, a brown bear leaps down from a nearby tree and goes to attack Romaia. The party, being the animal rights activists that they are, try to talk the bear down casting speak with animals and communicating with it informing it they mean them no harm. The party's own bear, Trout in River, informs Tensi that the creature they were facing was not actually a bear. Eventually the "bear" reveals it is actually a dwarf man in Polymorph. He stands naked in front of the party, clearly as confused as they all are. Is this, ükkó? The colleague Calder mentioned who can cast Plane shift? We shall find out next time!
