Session 104: When Last We Met 11/24/24

General Summary

When last we met, The party had just slain Baphomet, the horned king of the Abyss. They stand in utter disbelief within his realm of the Abyss. As the shock wears off, the party enlists the help of Romaia who proceeds to gut and flay the corpse of the Demon prince to claim several prizes off of him.

After that, Mistral collects some of the Horned King's blood to conjure a greater demon to assist in taking the book back. He summons a Manes demon to pick up the book without incident. From there the party turns to Ukko to get them out of there. Only problem is he is still Cursed from Baphomet and is unable to cast the plane shift spell. As this realization sets in, Another emerges. Baphomet's plane of the Abyss is crumbling around them, unmaking itself without its architect holding it together. The party is stuck in a bit of a jam. However, Mistral enlists the help of his patron to Wish a spell into existence. He does and greater restoration is cast on Ukko, freeing him of the curse and allowing the party to escape just in the nick of time.

The party, with demon and book in tow, are instantly plane shifted back to the palace of Aziraphal. There they find a new figure in the throne room. An elderly looking man who beckons the party toward him. All others in the throne room seem to be paying this stranger reverence. He greets the party and says he has been following their exploits for some time. He congratulates them on their nearly unprecedented victory and proceeds to lay healing hands on Vandread, as well as their Unicorn ally. Inari's missing flesh is restored along with Vandread's entire leg. Whoever this old wayfarer as he calls himself is, he definitely has a deific power level.

He gives a command to Aziraphal who collects the Book of Vile Darkness and bisects it with their great sword, Destroying the book for a period of 1000 years. It will return, But for now, it's off the playing field. The stranger instructs the party that they must return to their home plane and face off with this Outer God, (Referring to the King in Yellow). In addition to all that, the stranger promotes the Celestial that accompanied them into the Abyss to the rank of Solar and pledges them to watch over The Party to which he agrees. They take their rest in the Palace and the following day, despite protestations from Vandread, the party is plane shifted back to the Prime Material plane, right in front of their home of Maplevale.

The party opens the front door and finds their permanent house guests, Vasil and Caoimhe suspended in some sort of trance. they repeat the phrase "Stranger Still is Lost Carcossa". An excerpt from the poem pertaining to The King in Yellow. Vandread dispells this trance on Caoimhe and Celeste proceeds to question him on who or what did this to them.

Caoimhe recounts these two abhorrent humanoid creatures attacked them psychically through the windows and that was the last thing he remembered. Soon after there is a loud slam against their front door. Someone.... or Something is trying to break in. Mistral moves to the window to see and finds this hulking abomination along with a fish-like humanoid attempting to break down their front door. Mistral slips out of the window and attacks the pair with Eldritch Blasts.

From there Combat ensues where The two Star Spawn creatures attack the party and the party fight back with tricks of their own. Vandread ends up fellating the larger of the two with a barrage of Trident attacks, leaving it dead on their front entryway.

The other succumbs to a much quicker end. After it gets knocked down by a wildshaped Ukko, Romaia steps out to greet their new home intruder with a casting of Power Word kill which silences this Star Spawn for good.

Ukko - ran into a bit of trouble getting the party out, but was helped by Mistral
Amriel - Fomer Planetar now turned Solar. Promoted for his heroic act of delivering the killing blow to Baphomet. He is now charged with keeping watchful vigil over the Heroes of Maplevale. 
The Stranger - Some old Wayfarer. Gave Vandread back his leg, healed the Unicorn and promoted a Celestial to the highest possible rank. Probably a deity of some sort, but did not reveal himself in that way. 
Caoimhe and Vasil - Trapped in some sort of fugue state brought on by disciples of the King in Yellow.

Notes

• Party defeated Baphomet and harvested his corpse
• Party escaped that layer of the Abyss as it was beginning to unravel itself
• Returns to Elysium and meets a mysterious stranger
• The stranger heals Vandread's leg

• Party bids farewell to Aziraphal and Elysium. 
• Plane shifted back to the Material plane
• Arrives home
• Finds Caoimhe and Vasil in a bad way
• Attacked by Star Spawn
