Journey to the Feywild

You find yourselves standing on an unfamiliar shore. Its a cloudy, misty day. You hear the waves crashing against the shore. The sea air permeates your nostrils. You hear gulls in the distance. You're eveloped in this quiet calm, peaceful moment. Suddenly looking about you see a humanoid shape heading toward you.   Its a young girl. Long blonde hair flows down with little green and blue ribbons tied in. (She has elven features) She's wearing a long tunic dress with pants underneath and she's barefoot.   She flashes a friendly smile at you as she approaches.   "Hei. Mistä olet kotoisin?" (Hey where do you come from?)   "Oletko tullut kaukaa?" (Have you come from Far away?)   "En ymmärrä kieltäsi" (I don't understand your language)   She notices Baphomet Phillip and Stronghorn's strange appearance and a look of fear streaks across her face   "Oletko paha?" (Are you evil?)   "Kerro totuus!" (Tell me the Truth!)   She pulls a smooth white rock from one of her pockets   "Jos olet demoni, tapan sinut" (If you are a demon, I will kill you)   She Holds the Rock up above her head as if she is going to throw it at you   "Mene pois!" ( GO AWAY!)   She moves the rock toward her head and holds it over her face. She begins to Sing this strange melody and you watch as some sort of Rune begins to glow on the rock she's holding up.   Suddenly you hear a deafening crack of Thunder as a bolt of lightning strikes just behind you in the water.   "Älä kiusa minua!" (Don't tempt me!)   Suddenly you hear another voice shout from the shore line   "Hei Jari, jätä nuo ihmiset rauhaan. He tarkoittavat, että sinulla ei ole haittaa" (Hey Jari, Leave those people alone. They mean you no harm)   An older boy. Probably late teens early 20's walking toward her.   You see the girl relax and put the rock away in her pocket.   "mene taloon. Äiti syö illallista valmiina" (Go to the house, Mother will have dinner ready)   He shoos her off and she runs away toward the tree line   He holds his hands up and approaches the party   "Apologies for my sister. She is brave but still young. I'm sorry if she frightened you. My name is Trukka. Well met."   "What brings you to our little island? Here for trade?"   "My village is this way. Our Elder Jussi may be able to help you."   He converses with the party and eventually leads them to his Village.   You are brought a half mile away from the shore. Through the tree line. You emerge to see this tiny village. You see a humble assortment of rural homes with thatched roofs. You can smell fish and berries roasting nearby at a fire. You see a small assortment of people milling about. Some are weaving, some are tending livestock, some are leading children in some sort of song. Some of the crowd notice you. Especially the more strange looking members of your party.   A small commotion begins amongst this crowd of villagers. You notice people behaving strangely. Some are spitting on the ground as you approach and some are clutching small pieces of iron and holding them up towards Baphomet phillip. As some kind of ward against evil. You can hear them whispering things in a foreign language.   Trukka interjects   "I apologize. I should have told you to cover up, the villagers, they are superstitious."   Trukka leads them into a large 1 storey building. Inside you find what looks like a dimly lit, sparsely furnished pub. Candle-lit chandeliers flicker above you. The smell of ale and smoke fills the room. A firepit burns toward the front of the room. There is a long wooden table in the center, Trukka fills several glasses with an amber colored Ale and slides them to each of you. Motioning you to sit.   "With our compliments, honored guests. It's about to begin" And he takes a seat beside you.   The din of the small crowd dies down as an elderly looking man takes a seat at the front of the room behind a crackling fire. He has short grey slightly disheveled hair and beard and a kindly demeanor.   He pulls a small dulcimer looking instrument out of a case and begins plucking at the strings and singing along in this strangely beautiful melody   ::All players make a DC10 Intelligence check. On a success, you see a phanstasmal image::   You watch as his music seems to bend the will of things in the room. The room suddenly gets dimmer as the candles and torches seem to grow darker and flicker with less vibrance. At the same time, the crackling fire in front of the singer grows to a full blaze. And you begin to see images in this roaring fire.   You see this wordless story play out before your eyes. You see a young boy and a girl. They are playing in a beautiful green meadow. An Aurora Borealis streaks overhead. Time speeds forward as The two children grow to adults before your eyes. They fall in love. The woman falls ill to some disease and perishes. The grief stricken man plunges himself to the Astral sea and fights off demon, fey, and celestial alike. He charges past the gates of death's house and appears to demand of the Raven Queen to return his wife to him or face his wrath.   She silently shakes her head and the man begins crying. Wordless pleas escape his mouth. He kneels down and pulls at her black cloak. Hopelessness is written across his face. She offers him a seat in her home. He sits on this black sofa, and suddenly the woman from before appears seated next to him. They embrace in a hug and the two of them then fade away. You catch a glimpse of the man's lifeless corpse on the floor of her home as she slowly closes the door blocking your view of the scene. The vision ends as the old man's final sombre notes are plucked.   The fire returns to its normal size and the lights in the space return to their normal brightness. Some of the people especially younger children in the hall wipe away tears from their cheeks. A murmur bubbles in the crowd. It soon crescendos in volume to loud cheers and hoots. People slam their mugs on the table as a sign of applause. The elderly man smiles and rises to his feet before giving a slight bow to the crowd. He replaces his instrument into his case and has a seat at the long table not far from you. A bright smile is plastered on his face as someone hands him a drink and he sips.   Trukka Calls out "Elder! Come. There are people I want you to meet!"   The older gentleman looks over to your section of the table, gives a nod and slowly gets to his feet and makes his way over to you.   He sits down with a huge sigh spilling some of his drink on the table.   "keitä nämä uudet ystävät ovat, Trukka? (Who are these new friends, Trukka?)   Trukka replies:   Muukalaisia mantereelta. He puhuvat yhteistä kieltä (Strangers from the main land, They speak the common tongue)   He raises his eyebrows and cracks another smile.   "Hail friends, well met. My name is Jussi. What brings you to our old island? Trade? Song? Both?"   (About the Fey Crossing)   "ah, you seek a meeting with the Fey? What could you possibly want with them?"   "So you wish to bring an item of great evil AWAY from those who are protecting it? Bringing out of safety and into danger?" a coy smile streaks across his face.   "Though this seems like a foolhardy quest. I will help you. But I will ask you something in return...   Look around the room" He motions around this little pub. "These are my people. My people are ancient and proud. But there are so few of us left. The Elves of the Feywild settled this land. We still bear the traces of their lineage"   As he points this out, You look at notice a lot of the people in this tavern, Including Trukka and Jussi, have a slight point to their ears and very faint elven features.   "They taught the first of our people the magic of Laulu. The oldest and purest form of magic. All things great and small have a song inside of them. A music that defines who they are. A name and a melody that ties them to the Weave itself. People have forgotten these songs. But we still remember. The ability to call upon the True song of a thing allows you to shape it in the world. Bend it to your will. We can create a song to shape our magic how we wish it to be. No books of spells or deals with evil creatures required.   This is a powerful magic but we few are the only ones to keep its secret alive. And we are dwindling. Young people move away to see the world, The elders pass on with no pupils to train. War, Hunger, all of these things. The old world is giving way to the new. You can feel it everywhere. In the listful slow fall of a leaf in Autumn. The way it dances about on the air. If you look with the right kind of eyes, you can see it telling the story of the world - From the beginning. And the uncertain future that is held in its remaining years.   We can tell you where to find our Fey Crossing. But in exchange I would simply ask that you attempt to learn our magics. Study them, practice them. So that you may continue our proud tradition. Because not only do our songs tap into the magic of the world - They tell the story of it. Our songs are our very heritage passed down thru the ages. You must continue this lineage. Add your own verses to the music of the world. Or it will be forgotten. Are you able to grant an old man this wish?   ::offers to train them in Rune Magic::   "So... You want to know where the fey crossing is?   How best to describe it?? Our songs also remind us of our history so I think it is best if you learn this thru song. Aava! Laula meille! Saarten tarina (Aava, Sing for us! The story of our island)   This beautiful young woman steps to the front of the room. Stands before the fire. And begins to sing this unaccompanied song. Her voice, The silent walls it bounces off of, the words she sings, though they are unknown to you, All of it seems to enrapture and hypnotize you. Just like before the lights dim and the fire roars with a new vision, a new reverie before your eyes.   This time you see 4 men playfully chasing and courting a young girl with flowing red hair. Something about their appearance informs your sight that these are not ordinary people. These are gods.   Jussi whispers the explanation to you.   "A long time ago, there were 4 Brothers. Gods of the Ancient world. They went as they pleased and their hearts were their own. Until they discovered Melora. The goddess of Nature. All 4 fell instantly in love. Each desired to possess her. They competed for her love and attention as playful rivals.   Finding an empty spot of ocean, These 4 brother gods created Islands in her honor to win her affection. The first brother, Taliesin, forged a north island Seeking to showcase her beautiful creations thru song. And so he filled it with song. Soothing bird sounds, the calm rhythm of the Ocean Tides, The Crickets of night. For only so lovely a creature could create such beautiful music with her creations. Melora looked on the island and smiled, but it did not win her heart.   Two of the other Brothers, Known as Herne and Teranus, each forged their own islands of pure natural beauty. The filled it with spectacularly large trees and soft rolling hills and gentle creatures great and small. They chose only the most beautiful and wonderful aspects of nature to inhabit their island. Again Melora smiled upon their master work, But neither island won her affection.   The final brother, known as Oghma, was wiser than the rest. He knew that Nature was beautiful and gentle but could also be ugly and cruel. He wisely knew of the dichotomy of nature bringing wonderful creation and terrible destruction. And so he forged an Island that showed both sides of Melora. Harsh mountains and inhospitable volcanoes dot the landscape along with beautiful lush green greenery. Harsh storms and calm seas come and go and live in constant flux. For that is the duality of nature herself. She giveth and she taketh away.   Melora looked upon this creation and beamed with elation. She embraced Oghma and gave him a kiss. And she opened a portal to the Feywild on his island and bid him join her there. And so the two were joined as lovers for all time. Learning of their union, Herne and Teranus became enraged with jealously. Their jealously festered within them twisting them. It eventually transformed their bodies into hideous monsters. And it is said They sit and guard the entrance still to this day. Terrorizing anyone who seeks an entrance to the realm of their scorned Lover. Therefore the entrance to the fey wild is unspeakably dangerous. And SO I wish you luck on entering.   Blessing to you.:"     With that, Jussi Bids you farewell.   The Party Then has the option of traveling via landbridge to Teranus and then taking a boat to Oghma. Or take a boat to Oghma directly.   On the sea they will encounter 2 Sahuagins and 1 Sahuagin Baron   ____________________________________________   You have Landed on the shores of the island known as Oghma. You're on a black sand beach with mountains and volcanoes looming up from the distance some ways ahead of you. The brush around you is dense with the sounds of wildlife. The Boatman has told you in broken common that he will wait with the boat. The shoreline stretches as far as the eye can see another side of you and a rough Forest path seems to stretch ahead of you . What would you like to do?   *marching order* :: roll stealth for DB or use passive:: ::DC perception check to spot the beast early:: Moving further in to the Jungle, You spot a giant Black Cat Eyeing you from the brush ahead. Its black fur and its sleek muscular body sit motionless. Its glowing yellow eyes are transfixed on your group. What are you guys doing?     As you watch this predator in front of you, Another one of these beasts jumps out at (Stronghorn) and you watch as two Tentacles erupt out of its body and slash at your unicorn companion. (roll 2 attacks against stronghorn, then Roll Initiative)   Party Vs. 1x Displacer Beast   (The Creature will attempt to Run if it gets below Half HP)   The Creature makes a full escape deeper into the dense forest. Dark blood stains the ground where it ran.   (On a DC10 Investigation Check, The party can track the beast by its blood trail)   The Trail will lead to 2 more Displacer beasts that lay in wait for an Ambush - If the party manages to kill the displacer beast, this path will not follow.   Further ahead within this dense jungle like forest, the party hears a disturbance coming from one of the bushes.   They hear the sounds of rustling followed by *Bamf* Then theres rustling from another part of the bush. And the *Bamf* Noise continues Suddenly the *bamf* noise occurs and a 4 legged creature stands in front of you. its ears are perked up and his tongue hangs out of his mouth. It appears to be a semi large dog.   It lets out a friendly bark and sits on its haunches and looks around at your party. You hear a voice calling out from the dense underbrush.   "Narmo! Come!" Suddenly the dog vanishes before your eyes in a sudden *Bamf*.   You see it reappear at what you thought at first was just another tree, the dog appears at the foot of a tall elven man seated on his haunches.   You see a dark haired, golden skin elf dressed in greenery and leafy finery. He has a crossbow slung over his shoulders.   "This is a bad place to get lost friends. These Displacer Beasts can be deadly"
"What are you seeking to accomplish wandering in here? "
"My name is Thengel. I serve my lady of the Summer Court. She has tasked me with ridding these Woods of the Abominations from the feywild."   If the party asks where the Fey Crossing is:   "That's dangerous information to Share friends. How do I know you are not an enemy of my lady?   Perhaps you are spies infiltrating to try and murder her on her Mossy throne. Why else would you be foolish enough to brave this land?     ::after convincing::   "I can show you where it is, But I can't guarantee your survival."   He escorts them thru the jungle forest to finally appear in a grove of some kind. A glowing pool appears in the center.   as the party approach the waters, A roar is heard overhead.   Encounter - Party vs. 2 Wyverns.   ::Once the party defeats them::   We must wait for Moonlight to touch the water before the portal opens. It's kind of the Rules.   As the moon crests above the horizon, its rays shine down upon this tranquil pool and you watch as it begins to glow a blueish green color. Where once the waters were peacefully rolling and rippling, the pool suddenly grows completely still as if it has turned to glass. You watch the first of your party slowly steps in, it almost sounds like twinkling of wind chimes as their foot first breaks the surface of the water and step in. The blue glow begins to pulsate with each footstep they take into it. They shift the water but there are no ripples it almost looks like gelatin in the way it moves. You watch them move and the water gets deeper and deeper. Their torso is gradually submerged in the pool. The glowing intensifies as you see the top of their head dissapear under the water, and then there is silence.   ::When the last person has entered the pool::
