Wars between the three kingdoms of Norfolk, Wessex and Sudrein that ended with the unification of the three kingdoms under Brian, in Norwich.
By 800 CT, there were 3 kingdoms in what is now the United Kings. Norland was the most powerful and the most ancient, established in year 0 (and calling it year 0), and even then able to impose its names and dates on the region. Wessex also had a long history, as did Sudrein in the southeast. They all vied for control of the area around the Middle Sea, and against the world outside. Culturally, they were already starting to be more alike than different. The Norland kings in Normouth established a high court culture, valuing education and literature, holding grand balls and vast tournaments, building cathedrals and palaces, monasteries and universities. It was something of an illusion - the cultured and sophisticated court world lay over a world of violence and savagery like a solk scarf spread over a bed of coals. BUt it explains the nature fo the wars that followed, and many fo the characters involved.
